East Meadows Schools
We live and Queens and thinking about moving into Long Island for the schools district. We are interested in the East Meadows area and are open to other school districts as well.
1) How are the East Meadows schools from Elementary to HS?
2) Other school districts that you would recommend? and what do you love about your child's school.
Thanks in advance for any information.

Re: East Meadows Schools
my friends live in east meadow and ended up sending their kids to catholic school. not exactly sure why. but the neighborhood just pushed to get universal kindergarten passed.
i live in Wantagh with Levittown schools (Lee Road, Salk, MacArthur). The name of my area is Forest City. It's a great place to live and there are a lot of houses going on the market now. It's not easy to find a house here so they may go fast.
ETA...if you need to commute to the city, there is no train station for EM. you'll have to go to Merrick or another station.

My husband is a product of East Meadow schools and speaks highly of the education he received there. His parents still live there (in the Barnum Woods section) and it's a nice neighborhood.

We just moved OOS from East Meadow. I really liked the school (elem only, don't know about middle or high) and I enjoyed living in East Meadow. I lived near Woodland Middle so I didn't see issues like people who live close to Front or Prospect. The only thing I wish EM had was a cute little downtown area, but it's really close to Eisenhower Park so that's a bonus.

Re: East Meadows Schools
PM me with specific questions, but we've been in EM since 2007 and are very happy.
It's a large district: 5 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 2 high schools. All the schools are rated well consistently. Lots of young families. Lower taxes than surrounding areas because of all the businesses. Close to highways and train stations.
