1st Birthday Ideas
So my son is turning 1 at the end of July and am trying to come up with some ideas for a party. My husband would like to do it at our house, but I would prefer to do it at a place. Can anyone recommend ideas for a summery birthday party? Cant think of being inside a restaurant in the middle of summer!
Thanks!!
Will be a mix of adults and kids! Somewhere in eastern Nassau/huntington area

For one... it's really for the adults. How about a pizzareria/Italian restaurant that has an outdoor space? A beer garden may also be fun if you can reserve a table.
Gymboree type places are cute too... but probably better at 2.
We personally have always done 1 at our home... but it was a small group.

Re: 1st Birthday Ideas
We did DD's first birthday at the Carousel at Hempstead Lake State Park. Same price as renting a room at a firehouse, plus outdoor space, use of carousel, and a playground nearby. The only thing that sucks is the parking- guests have to pay or you can purchase parking passes 2 weeks in advance and distribute to your guests- they won't even let you leave them at the gate! If you're having a smaller group, Nunley's Carousel does a nice, but quick party.

We did our first at Nunleys and then had the immediate family back to the house for a catered lunch . We did my second dd's at a park.

Re: 1st Birthday Ideas
What township do you live in? Maybe they have an outdoor space you can rent? Or maybe just do a BBQ at Bethpage State Park?
I have all summer birthdays too. I did them all at home. For my DS1 I did an under the sea theme and rented one of those big blow up water slides. Huge hit. For DS2, I did a barnyard theme and had a petting zoo come to the house. That was super cute. For DS3, I'm thinking of doing a Carnival theme. I'm not sure yet. His bday is September so I'm tossing around the idea of a harvest-theme party too.

Re: 1st Birthday Ideas
You could do it at a park. My coworkers daughter reserved a picnic area at a local park.
Both of my kids have summer birthdays. DS bday was in a restaurant and DD's bday was at our house in our backyard.
