How to get couch through door that wont fit
I have a couch in Living room I want to put in my basement, but arms are very big and it wont fit. I see some videos online on how to take the arm off. I also read of hiring someone to do this. Has anyone had this dilemma and anything you can share that worked for you?

Re: How to get couch through door that wont fit
we had a tough time when we moved getting our couch into the basement, the movers had to take the wood base off the bottom that the couch stands on. I am not sure about removing arms.

Mine has feet that come off. I know for most lazy boy couches the back comes off. Do you have the model info that maybe you could call the manufacturer and ask?

Re: How to get couch through door that wont fit
Thanks. No model number. Believe it or not, I had it shipped here when my parents moved back from fla. It was in such good condition that I paid to have it come up here. I originally wanted it for basement but we couldn't get it in there. So it's been in living room. I just painted my living room and want to get a new couch but this is so perfect for the basement. The arms are HUGE and puffy.

Re: How to get couch through door that wont fit
Is it just the bulk of the arms that is making it impossible to be wedged through the door frame? Could it be shrink wrapped to make it more slimline so it fits?

Gee...I am not quite sure. It was quite a few years ago we tried to do this. I'm just trying to get my thinking cap on for this but sounds like a great suggestion

How to get couch through door that wont fit
DH somehow took ours apart a little to get it into an upstairs bedroom. Getting it back down years later he had to completely destroy it.
SIL used a service, I think it was NY Couch Doctors.

You can usually take it apart, but the cost to take a couch apart and rebuild it may not be worth it.

I'm assuming that it won't fit even if you remove the door?
