Major Sleeping Issues
Let me start by saying I am fully aware that we have created this issue and made it worse
Our son is a little over 2 years old. He's never been a good sleeper. About a month ago he was waking up in the middle of the night and giving us a really hard time going back to sleep. After a few nights of crying and laying in his room on the floor, one night in desperation we brought him in our bed. He fell back asleep instantly and slept til morning.
Fast forward to now and this has happened every single night (except 2 random nights where he magically slept through in his crib). It's getting worse because now its getting earlier and earlier that he will wake up and come in our bed.
I've done cry it out, Ive read the ferber method. Did it with my daughter and it worked. This kid I swear is immune to this method. He jumps and screams until he pukes.
Im at a loss. How am I going to get him back into his crib all night?

Re: Major Sleeping Issues
Does he still need to be in a crib? How do you think he would do with a toddler bed or regular bed? Both of my kids hated their cribs. We ended up co-sleeping. One transitioned to a full bed very easily shortly after turning 2 and the other had a tougher transition, but moved to his own bed at 2.5.
Does he have night terrors? Would he respond well to a sticker chart for staying in his bed? I'd end up walking DS2 back to his room, sometimes multiple times per night, to avoid having him getting back into the habit of sleeping with us. There were times when he slept on the floor in our room or in the hallway, but once he realized that we were totally done co-sleeping and he had his own bed, he learned to STTN in it.

I know this does not completely solve the problem, but what if you allowed him to come into your bed and then once he fell asleep put him back into his bed. I did that for a while with my son. Now he is allowed to come into our bed only after going into his bed first and only once the bathroom light is off. He usually comes into our bed around 5 am.

When my daughter was around 20 months we had the same problem. I hate to tell you this but once he is in your bed it is really really difficult to get him out. We were so desperate that we hired someone to help us. We used "the chair method" while being coached by a sleep professional. It was 10 days of sleeping on my daughter's floor half the night but she has been sleeping through in her crib for over 6 months without a single issue. FM me if you want the name! I think she was called The Sleep Lady.

I thought about trying this first. Maybe I'll try tonight

Ugh everytime I google I see her method lol
My husband has slept on his floor a few nights after seeing that method. We may have to try it again

Re: Major Sleeping Issues
My twins are two and never slept through the night from birth to this day.... Every single night they would wake up crying after being asleep for maybe an hour, two tops. And then every attempt to put them back in, they would wake up as soon as we put them down or shortly after.
About two months ago we converted their cribs into toddler beds because we just needed to try something else. They still don't sleep through the night but it seems to be getting better. They no longer scream and cry. When they wake up, they get out of bed and come to get me or my husband. We pick them up, hold them for a little til they fall back asleep and then put them back down. Some nights are better than others. One wake up, maybe two. Some are terrible. But there has def. been a change from consistent crying and waking every single night. The biggest thing is we MUST put them back in their beds...which is hard when they are sound asleep on the couch or our bed with us but we try really hard to stick to it. Our fingers are crossed that 3 is the magical age that these kiddos STTN.
Good luck!
