New paltz help !
FIL rented a house near new paltz for the week for all of us kids to celebrate his 70th. We went up I monday and I immediately drove back to Queens. There's a pond on the property and I'm terrified of Mosquitos (I'm pregnant) I feel terrible and want to drive back up and spend time with them so DH and I booked a hotel nearby.
What activities can we do while up there?? Any places we should visit?? They don't have plans and are just winging it. Dh and I would like to go up there with a list of things to do but don't want it to involve nature haha
Please help!!!

New paltz help !
Most of what there is to do up there involves nature lol. Hiking the parks, rail trail, etc. The walkway over the Hudson is pretty and not terribly natury. Walk around town, check out some of the orchards and do cider tastings, we like eating at the Guilded Otter which is a microbrewery.
Just throwing out there, have you talked to your doctor about the mosquito thing? I thought zika was dying out. My sister had a trip to Puerto Rico booked when she found out she was pregnant during the height of the epidemic. Her doctor just said to use lots of deet and go for it.

Dhs dad and step mom were just in Ecuador volunteering. So I'm afraid they have zika. Mosquito bites them then bites me. It's been a really really rough pregnancy and I'm still on partial bedrest, so I'm overly cautious(neurotic)

Gotcha. Congrats btw!
I feel like I should have more ideas bc we go up a lot but before kids we mostly did hiking and kayaking and since kids I pretty much sit around the house all day while dh fishes and mil plays with the kids.
Maybe Mohonk Mountain House. I've never been but it's supposed to be pretty and I think there's a nice restaurant.

I did 2 years of college up there... it's all about nature lol. You could cross the bridge into Poughkeepsie and go shopping.

It's pretty nature-y up there. You might have to break out the bug spray (which you can absolutely use while pregnant)!
Or you could go antiquing if that's your thing?

There's also The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park which i don't think is too far. There are a few restaurants on campus you can look into.
