I'm not sure where to post this re: endometrial polyp

Hi! I have not posted in a while. Dh and I have been trying to conceive for over a year. We saw a fertility specialist who diagnosed him with a severely low sperm count. I recently was diagnosed with a endometrial polyp/fibroid. I was hoping that someone could share their experiences with me. So, the initial sono had the polyp at 1.5 cm, which was approx 3 weeks ago. As soon as they told me I stopped drinking caffeinated coffee and my soy protein shakes. I doubt it would have done anything so soon, but when i went for the saline sonogram (ouch) it was measuring at 1cm. My obgyn had stated because she could not see a stalk, she would recommend removal in the hospital under general anesthesia. I'm very weary about this as I never have been put out before and am nervous. My other issue is, I'm turning 40 next month, and tbh am thinking of scrapping the idea of a second child due to our ages as well as dh's fertility issues. Thing is, this thing has never given me any issues. I actually would not have even known of it's existance if not for a sonogram. I've never had bad periods, no bleeding between periods, no pain, etc. Is it foolish to consider watching and waiting?

Eta we already have a 7 year old son which we are absolutely blessed with. Yes, it would be nice for him to have a sibling, but I'm not willing to go through invasive procedures for it. My priority is my ds.

The size of that fibroid seems small to me. I was in a similar boat where I was told I had a fibroid, though after a saline sono, my RE determined that while it is there, it's not likely to cause a problem because of it's size. I'd speak to your doctor about that. Just because it's there, doesn't mean it's going to cause you a problem. The location of the fibroid matters as well. Also keep in mind that fibroids can grow in size over time.

In my opinion, removing a fibroid would not be an invasive enough procedure to be considered "invasive". I understand the fear of being put out and having a medical procedure when you've never had to deal with something like this before, but removing a fibroid (in the grand scheme of things) is not something that comes with a list of side effects or risks. There's really no downside besides your time- IF removing it is even necessary.

From what you posted, it seems to me that regardless of whether or not you have the fibroid removed, the bigger issue is the sperm count.

This.

I have several fibroids bigger than yours and carried 2 successful pregnancies.

An endometrial polyp and a fibroid are two different things. A polyp should be removed. I had to have two removed at two different times one before doing IVF and one before an FET as they were both found during saline sonos. It was easy I was fine pretty much right after and minimally invasive as I did the surgery in June and was still able to start my FET cycle and transfer in July which resulted in my 2nd DC. Good luck
