Reglaze tub/tile or rip it all out??

We want to redo our guest bath. The tub and tile in the shower are in really good shape, just an older beige look. We are thinking about just having it reglazed all white. I would pick all white for a new tub and tile anyway as I like the all white and chrome look.

Is it worth it or should we just rip it all out and start over?

We are doing the work on our own and will redo the shower doors, floor, lights, cabinet, toilet, hardware, etc.

If the tub is in good condition, reglazing it will extend it's life. However, reglazing isn't permanent. IMO, if I were already doing the entire bathroom, I'd probably just redo the tub, too. It's better than having to rip it out in 5 years when the rest of the bathroom is brand new and risk ruining the tiles (or whatever) around the tub.

rip it out- I reglazed two years ago and while the tile is still in great condition, the tub has chipped.

We just did ours. DH ripped out the walls and did new tile, but we kept the tub and are reglazing. It was in good shape and we couldnt see gutting the WHOLE bathroom because of the tub.

This.

I had a tub reglazed in my old house, but I knew we were planning to sell and I just wanted to freshen it up. It was a PITA to live with because everything scratched the paint.

What is the cost to reglaze? Is it a deep soaker or shallow tub?

Lowes sells Americast tubs for around $260.

ETA: I know you said you wanted white tub and tile surround. I recently did a bath remodel with white tub and white subway tile. Although it is clean and crisp it looks stark.

If you are open to other options, take a look at this remodel. I love it. Product source info is included.
