How to sell used furniture
I have a living room hutch with tv in it. Its not the look I want anymore after redoing living room. Its in excellent condition. I dont want a lot for it, but after trying to donate a couch recently and all the trouble I went through, I would like to sell this instead. I saw an advertisement on tv last night for an app called Offer Up. Has anyone used a specific site or app? I never did anything like this before.

How to sell used furniture
I sell my stuff on Facebook in their buy/sell groups. I usually use Suffolk County Thrift group as it has the most member. I'm sure Nassau has one too.

Is there any reason why? I am new to this. I only saw an advertisement on tv last night of Offer Up and decided to look into it. If LetGo is much better than I will consider that over the other one.

Check if your town has a buy and sell facebook page. I have sold a couch, chair, table and other odds and ends within a day.

I used Let Go and Craigslist.
My piece of advise is to lower your expectations on price. When I lived in queens, I found it easy to sell pieces.
There isn't a huge market for used items on Long Island unless it's free or almost free.
I believe this is because we are more spread out - people will only travel so far. More people are home owners so they aren't moving every year/2 like in the city. It's a big hassle to rent a truck or other vehicle to pick big things up.
Not trying to discourage you but let you know what I found.
I've sold furniture, small appliances, surround sound, baby stuff, etc.

LetGo! I tried selling my table on FB for weeks, Lowered price to 1/2 and then was just going to give it away. Someone told me about LetGo and sold it in a day!

I like Facebook groups v craigslist (although over the years I have sold furniture on both) because you see who you are dealing with and I always start with the local groups first. I recently sold my nightstands and my dining room table/chairs and both had lots of immediate interest and were easy to coordinate pickup and the people seemed normal and not sketchy.
