Vasectomy questions
So I am looking into getting DH a vasectomy. He said he'd do it, but of course I will be doing any research bc if I wait for him it'll never happen.
Can i hear to good and bad? How is recovery?
Our insurance is under the Obamacare so of course this isn't covered. When I asked a urologist how much it would be the cost of the office visit for the first time and the vasectomy is $1000.
How much did you pay or was it covered?

Insurance covered. He took Friday off to have it done so he would have the weekend to recover. He was fine by the next day. Bags of frozen peas and sitting on the couch for the day.

Same here. It was an in-office procedure, which he was awake for. I know some guys that were knocked out for it. All recovered quickly.
ETA: Are you sure that the procedure isn't covered?

Same here too.
He said it was uncomfortable, but not as big a deal as he thought it was going to be.

Bumping up this old post to ask new questions -- My DH is finally agreeing to do this. Not sure where to start. Do I just look into urologists? Do i call my OBGYN and ask him for a good referral?

Same. And DH went to a surgi center because he wanted to be fully anesthetized for the "barbaric" procedure.  Meanwhile, was I fully anesthetized during my 3 vaginal deliveries? How about I wasn't anesthetized at all for the last one!

Your OB can refer you or if you know a good urologist, you can make an appointment. My DH went to Dr. Chen in Bethpage I think. He was great.

How'd you finally get your DH to agree? I keep floating the idea, but I get shot down every time.

Ha good question. I just keep wearing him down i guess. We've talked about it over and over and over, and i went on 3 different types of pills post pregnancy and all of them made me sick. He saw me continue to take them, try new ones, and how sick i was. I think that made him break. He knows im SO DONE and that i also went through 2 very difficult pregnancy's where I was sick the entire time. It is his turn!

Thanks!! I keep telling my DH that it's his turn but he's not budging. He's just a big wimp when it comes to anything medical. I've got a Mirena IUD and so far it's working for me, but I think when it's up in 4 years I want to be done with birth control. So I have 4 years to convince him...
