If you are due June 1, can you give a date that you tell your payroll secretary it is your last day? 6 weeks would be May 15 to the last day of school. For example, can I say my last day of work will be on May 20 and just use my CAR days to finish off the year? ( I probably have about 60 and it will be less than 6 weeks).

I believe you need a drs note putting you on bed rest or something. If i remember correectly, my friend started her leave early, but she said only 8 days early was allowed, or a number close to that, because they count as regular sick days and you are allowed to take a certain number of days in a row. It was under 10 days- I know that for sure.
I would talk to the payroll secretary. You can't start your 6 weeks 3 weeks ahead of your due date though I don't think

Your leave doesn't start until the baby is born. You can take sick days but would you want to save your days until after? I would strongly advise you to go to the maternity workshop offered by the uft-that information is majorly valuable.

Also adding-is this your first? You may not go on your due date (obviously!)
