where to buy reasonably priced communion dresses?
DD will be making her communion in May - I'm so excited! But so disappointed in the prices of the dresses I'm seeing!
We're just looking for simple, classic. Nothing too fancy. I think I was hoping to spend no more than 150 for everything...
I've looked at JCPenney, Macys, Burlington - no dresses!
Help!
TIA.

Pink Princess.com
I got DD a stunning dress for $74.99
They had cheaper too.
The most expensive was probably only slightly over $100.
Great reviews. Huge selection.
Free shipping AND returns so I didn't feel nervous about buying it online.
I am in love with her dress.

Re: where to buy reasonably priced communion dresses?
I don't need one for a couple of years so I don't know prices, but I would check Lobel's in Sunrise Mall, Tri County Flea Market and David's Bridal.

Re: where to buy reasonably priced communion dresses?
Nervous Nell,
Thank you - I've been on this site and there are a few dresses my daughter and I love, but she wanted to go to the store to try stuff on. I am also worried about trying to figure out her size, etc. but I may go this route....
Just wondering where you will buy any accessories like veil, shoes, etc?
TIA!!!

So in terms of the sizes, go by the charts and measure her. If you don't have a tape measure like the seamstresses use, get one at Michael's or AC Moore. I measured DD - added the 2 inches they tell you to add to their measurements - and went by the size chart. I was nervous too because she wears a size 6 or 7 and she was measuring a 5 in this dress. But I went with it figuring- free returns. It came and sure enough the 5 fit perfectly. So definitely go by the charts because they run different than normal clothes apparently. (at least this dress did). I will probably get her veil on their too- haven't looked yet. I have no idea where to even get a veil in a store to be honest. I rarely shop in stores. Shoes I figure I can get anywhere- just need white shoes.

Childrens place actually had 2 pairs of cute white shoes that were very cheap. I just ordered DD 2 pairs to try with her dress.

Oooo, thanks! I will look today.
I am trying to keep the costs down. I cannot bring myself to spend hundreds and hundreds on a dress and accessories she will wear for a few hours and then never ever again. I just can't do it

Re: where to buy reasonably priced communion dresses?
I got DD's at Nordstrom. It was $85 not on sale. That said, she wanted a VERY simple dress (no beads, sparkles, poufiness, nothing ornate basically) so that's where I guess the higher cost may come in?

Definitely check Lobel's in the Sunrise Mall. They are closing and everything is ridiculously cheap. They are closing soon - February maybe? We get school uniforms there and just got short sleeve button down shirts for $2 each. I assume the dresses would be inexpensive as well.

I didn't know they were closing. That's too bad. I liked some of their items better than Flynn O'Hara.

Re: where to buy reasonably priced communion dresses?
I’d wait just a bit longer... I usually see tons of dresses in the Spring (a bit closer to Easter). Macy’s and Lord & Taylor would be my go to... and mind their sales around that time.
BUT if you have time/ energy, check out a second hand store. Great if you have time to find bargains. Easter and communion dresses have been showing up at our local one. The discount is pretty impressive for something worn once. Saw an amazing communion dress that must have cost a fortune.

Re: where to buy reasonably priced communion dresses?
I got my daughter's communion dress at kohls. Bought online and I had a 30% coupon. Cost me $35. I am not big on spending alot of $$ for something worn 1x. It is very pretty and comes with a little jacket. I got the same shoes from Children's place as the PP and got the headpiece and veil at Baron's in Tri-County.

I feel the same way. And it's not even a full day...a few hours!!! I even hate buying her Christmas and Easter dresses because she wears them once. I can't imagine spending what some people spend on Communion dresses.

Where I live people spend 1000's. They look like little brides, each and every one of them.

And let me guess- you'll never see them in church again after the big "to do". Right?
