Partial Hysterectomy question

I had everything removed about 2 yrs ago due to stage 1 OvCa found in 1 ovary (my other ovary was fine until 3 months later when I got huge cysts that looked suspicious so opted to just get it all out).

It all comes down to what type of surgery you have. You can either have it done laparoscopically which is just tiny incisions and its the least recovery time. However, I opted against that because they use a morcellator and they break down all the tissue into a tiny bag inside you and if there are any cancer cells, its a good chance they spread before they can analyze it inside the bag.

I had no choice but to get opened up (6 inches from belly button to top of pelvic area) and I was on bedrest for probably 3 weeks after surgery and had to be out in STD for 7-8 weeks after the procedure. Either way, whether you do the C-section incision or the laparascopic version, you are going to be on bed rest for at least 3-6 weeks afterward.

Hi, I had uterus only removed due to grapefruit sized fibroid. I had laproscopy with morcellator and three incisions. I spent one night in the hospital. I was in a lot of pain the next day from the inflation/gas. It was in every part of my body. Thereafter, I had significant pain on moving from some interior morcellator scarring and the awkward placement of the incisions and stitches but I took ibuprofen only. As soon as the stitches came out after 3 weeks, I felt fine and went back to work. I still get a period with all the PMS symptoms and then a little staining from the cervix, not even enough to wear a pad.
P.S. HysterSisters was my best friend during my recovery!

Because the blood flow to my ovaries was cut off, I entered perimenopause early (<40), so over the past year, I've been experiencing wonky hormones: the sweats, missing periods, period every 20 days. I was not expecting that; I didn't know to ask and the surgeon didn't mention it.

Partial Hysterectomy question

I am deciding this now. I have options, I can do an IUD, embolization or a hysterectomy. I have a fibroid and it can not be removed due to location. The IUD and embolization would treat the symptoms associated with the fibroid. The hysterectomy would remove the fibroid. I'm not sure what I want to do. There's a part of me that says remove the uterus but there is a part of me that says no. Such a tough decision.
