Bloodwork
I need to take my DD for her 2 year bloodwork. Last year we went to the NSLIJ lab in Bethpage because I heard they were good with kids and it was a nightmare.
Is there anywhere else that is good with kids? We’re in Nassau but willing to drive. I know there’s a specific person at Stony Brook who is great but there’s no guarantee he’ll be there on any given day.

Re: Bloodwork
The lab at Good Sam hospital has pediatric phlebotomists. We took DD there for her bloodwork and they were excellent.

Good Sam is great and the outpatient stony brook lab in setauket. You don't need a specific person - they're all great there.

Re: Bloodwork
Good Sam was great with my 1 year old, but honestly we had equally good experiences with Quest and even better with the lab across from Southside Hospital on Main Street in Bayshore (used to be NSLIJ, not sure if it’s changed to Northwell now).

Bloodwork
for those of you that took your child to Good Sam/Southside etc for the bloodwork - did you make an appt? I have never gone to a hospital for routine bloodwork. I need to take the 1yo for her bloodwork and we made and appt at quest, but i am dreading it and if they are that good at good sam, I will just go there.

The outpatient lab at Good Sam is walk-in. It is around the back of the hospital. You can call and see when they will have pediatric specialists working. They work in the NICU and they are great. We usually go on Saturday mornings and we've never waited longer than 10 minutes, if that. (631) 376-4057

Thank you! We ended up keeping the appointment at Quest for this one. She was good - but they had to stick her twice because she jerked for the first one midway through. Once she realized what was happening she started crying. I felt terrible, but she recovered pretty well once they gave her stickers next year when we need bloodwork again I will definitely be going to Good Sam though! thanks for the information!!!

Bloodwork
We went to Good Sam. We definitely waited more than 10 minutes but it is a holiday week. My daughter sat on my lap and when they tied the bad on she freaked because that hurts... but she said that was the only peart that hurt. I’d go back. There were two techs when they did my daughter .
