Kalahari , Great Wolf?

My kids are 5.5 and 8. Both did not like Splish splash last summer ... I think it was too much and too adventurous for them. Would Great Wolf or Kalahari be too much for them ? I want to take them somewhere this summer?

Kalahari has great areas for younger kids.
There are some scary slides but there are a TON that are tame.
DD has loved it since she was 5 so I think you can't go wrong there.
It's awesome

I haven't done Great Wolf but, have done Kalahari and Camelback.

I've heard from those who have done both that Kalahari is nicer and newer and has more slides.

My almost 6 year old isn't that adventurous and there is plenty for him to do.

Your children will have fun at either one. I only been to Great Wolf in Virginia and it was pretty brand new at the time and we had a great time. But I did love Kalahari a bit more.

If you don't think there are gong to do the slides then IMO I don't think it will matter. They will like both. Since you have never been to either one I would just go with which ever one you get a better deal at.

I've been to both in the last 15 months or so. My DS was 8 when we went, but he's pretty adventurous. However, we went with a bunch of families from school, and there were lots of younger siblings. Everyone had plenty to do at both places. There are play areas at both geared toward younger kids and things like the wave pool, lazy river, etc. that are calmer.

There are some non-water park "extras" at Great Wolf, like story time in the evenings, and characters, and the MagiQuest. My DS really didn't care about that, though. Both Kalahari and Great Wolf have non-water park things to do, such as the arcades.

If I had to choose, I would pick Kalahari, just because there are more dining options and better features for adults (more bars, including swim up bars, and indoor/outdoor hot tubs). We are going back to Kalahari in the fall.

Both are fun and would be age-appropriate, though.
