Going for an MRI - questions about what to wear
I am going for an MRI of my shoulder tomorrow. Have never been for one before and I just realized, I am not sure about what to wear. I know you can't have any metal - so, since it's my shoulder, does that mean no metal on pants or skirt too, or just on my upper body. I know I can't have underwire on my bra, so was thinking I'd wear a sports bra - or does none of that matter because they make you undress and wear a gown? Thanks!

They will probably make you take off the bra since it's so close to the area they scan. If I remember correctly, they'll give you a gown, but you'll probably get to keep on your pants and socks. Maybe wear sweatpants or yoga pants so there's no metal at all.

Going for an MRI - questions about what to wear
I always wear yoga pants and a tank top and normally wear the gown over that. Just make sure the tank has no metal if it has adjustable straps
Edited to say I wear a sports bra under the tank.
I have had them in the hospital and at zwanger and was fine with this choice of clothing in both places. Just no underwire bra and no metal.

No metal. Yoga pants and a tee are the way to go

They'll give you a gown and you can take off your bra in the changing room. No necklaces, no watches

Going for an MRI - questions about what to wear
Thanks everyone. Since my appointment was right after work, I wore a dress with no metal (no zipper, hooks, buttons etc) and a sports bra underneath. I only had to remove my jewelry and they did the MRI with me fully dressed

No metal and comfort. If you have a fear of small spaces, take a Xanax. It’s TIGHT and LOUD. Worst experience of my life.

Yes! Mine was an hour and a half in an enclosed one. I nearly panicked and had them stopped So def take something if you hate enclosed spaces

Thanks - I had heard some horror stories, but it really didn't bother me too much. They gave me headphones and played the music I asked for, which helped a lot
