100 days... did you know about this celebration?
in my cake/bakery hunt i have discovered that there is a "thing" to celebrate when a baby turns 100 days old.
i'm seeing a lot of cakes and reviews about how people have parties with elaborate cakes to celebrate reaching 100 days of life.
i never knew this was such a thing.
i love any reason to have loved ones together and celebrate, but do new parents really need another event to have to celebrate/host/worry about?
did any of you know about this?

No and I think it's ridiculous. What about 200 days then?

Yes, this is a HUGE deal in asian cultures and for us, it’s bigger and more celebrated than the 1st year birthday.

ok. now that makes sense. the area where all these bakeries are, there is a very large asian community. i hadn't put that together.
i just felt bad thinking these poor new moms had an additional event just thrown in the mix.

I had a 100 day celebration for my DS (DH is Chinese) in lieu of a baby shower...I thought it was a perfect way to celebrate him and also have our friends and family meet him as well that hadnt beforehand...I plan on doing the same for #2.

My dd just read about this Chinese tradition in school. I had never heard of it before but the book said it’s a bigger celebration that a 1st birthday.
