help me not be a b!tch
the coordinator at the venue for SO's surprise party moved back home to michigan. the young lady who took over doesn't know how to read english and i'm about to release my royal b!tch on her and i'm trying not to.
how do i tell this young lady that it's MY party we're planning and NOT hers?!
we're getting ready to schedule tasting. i tell her days and times i'm available, she offers everything but. this goes back and forth for a while. i finally tell her to speak with the chef to see if he can accommodate. ok, she'll get back to me.
now, we talk about actual menu. i say no sweets because i'm buying a cake. she replies with a list of apps and a mini donut, brownie, cookie plate?!?! really?
i mention the open bar packages. she replies with talk about a cash bar
WHAT THE FUKKKKK????!!!!!
how on earth do i reply to this email without telling her "listen, you stupid little *****......"
she's giving me an ulcer!

Re: help me not be a b!tch
Can you call the venue and ask to speak to a manager? This woman sounds like she is a ditz

Call and ask the manager if they can give you someone else since this person doesn't know how to listen!

Tell this person, nope, and I want this and this. That’s it. I would also CC the manager in the email.

I'd say something like: thank you for the suggestions but please stick to my requests/instructions.

Call the venu. Ask to speak with a manager, explain that you had already agreed with the prior party planner aspects of the party that the new party planner is sabotaging. I would say you want someone else assigned to your function, and you can't work with the new person.

Re: help me not be a b!tch
This sort of happened to me with my wedding. I loved the banquet manager. She offered us things that i might not have asked for, but she she offered, I chose them..
For example, if she said, we have 1 vegetarian option, I would have said ok, but she said, this is our standard, but our chefs cater entirely vegetarian weddings, so we actually have a few options to choose from. I chose one, and said I would confirm at the last appoint. At the last appointment, she couldn't make it & we had someone new.
I mentioned the veg option we chose & she just kept saying this is our standard. We usually offer this. And I kept saying we were offered these. I chose this. Eventually she gave up, but I had to be firm.
It drove me crazy, because it was the 1st person's suggestion in the first place! no backsies! ( and the basic option was a veggies wrap, which is dumb, b/c why should vegetarian guest be eating a sandwich when the meat eaters have a full steak entree with sides. But still, I wouldn't have said anything if they didn't offer other options, first.) anyway- i would be firm. Say, i asked for menu options -no desserts? Please send me what I requested.
After the 2nd attempt, if she doesn't listen, speak to a manager.

Re: help me not be a b!tch
thank goodness i didn't have to be a TOTAL b!tch.
i replied to the email and told her what i wanted. no more, no less. she pushed back one more time.
i called the manager. told him that i'm not out to get someone in trouble or to be "that" client, but if i won't be listened to on such basic/simple details then i might have to reconsider something i've already invested a year into.
he was respectful and listened. i already received an email from him, this morning regarding day/time of tasting.
first world problem solved!
