What temp do you keep it at?

We all run hot so I’ve been keeping it at 68 and for us it’s confortable but I’m concerned about my pseg bill.

We just moved into our new house so it’s all new to us.

Re: Central AC

73 in evening, 76 while we are out all day.

I’d be freezing in 68. That’s what I keep my heat at and I wear sweatshirts.

I wish we could do 74/75 but we are in a split and our bedroom is at least 5 degrees hotter than downstairs as the heat rises up our open foyer/staircase.

Re: Central AC

DH likes to keep it at 68. I push for 70, so we compromise mostly at 69 and I wear a sweatshirt Chat Icon

His logic is I can always put more clothes on to warm up, he can only get naked lol We also have a ceiling fan in practically every single room.

When he is at work, I make it 72

We have the budget payments with PSEG. I think $200 per month? all year long. Paying in the winter makes up for the summer , etc.

Re: Central AC

72 -74 when we are home. We have it on a timer, (Honeywell Wi Fi thermostat) so once the house is empty on weekdays (when we are both at work), the temp can get to 88. At 3 pm, it clicks back to 72 (DH will walk in at 4:30pm from work and the house will be cooled off by then). Our last PSEG bill was around $200-220.

I keep it at 72 during the day if we are home, 74 if we are out and then at night 69. I have a split level and our bedrooms are on the 3rd floor so it’s super hot upstairs. I really wish when the previous owners installed it, that they did a split system because I would only run it upstairs and down stairs if we were home because my AC can be on 68 at night and our upstairs temp reader on the baby monitor will still read 79-80, so our bedroom fans also go on. I like it cold, DH hates it! I’ve had bills as high as $300 for a 1275 sqft house. I’ll deal with the cost, I won’t deal with being warm!Chat Icon it also depends on the type of house you have. My parents have a ranch and my mom keeps it at 70 and it’s pretty cold in there, way colder then my 70, but I have a choppy house layout and the upstairs is a sauna

Re: Central AC

Our house runs warm - if it is very hot out we turn it to 68 otherwise 70.

Re: Central AC

74, occasionally if I'm warm at night I'll out it down to 73 or 72.

I like to feel like it's summer time outside and not freeze!
