Has anyone had a sleep study done? If so, do you have a place that you'd recommend? I'd prefer Nassau but am open to Suffolk if the place is great.

My doctor recommended that I have one, and I am pretty nervous...so I'm hoping to find a spot that is both professional and friendly.

I had one done and was able to do it at home. I went through a pulmonologist and then went to a local hospital to pick the machine up.

DH did it at home and it was inconclusive so he went to do it at the sleep center and that was also inconclusive. They told him he should see their cognitive behavioral therapist twice a week. Set him up with the first appointment and then informed him that insurance didn't cover it and it was $250 per session. So $500 a week.

Then they coded it wrong for the insurance and I got 2 several thousand dollar bills and I spent countless hours getting them to straighten it out.

PS, DH still can't sleep.

Don't go to Northwell.

I’m in insurance hell because of mine as well. It was preapproved and in network and should be $20 but I keep on getting a bill for $850!

That's where I went too. It wasn't bad. You go in the evening (8ish) and leave early (6am ish).

Sleep Study

DH just had one at Good Samaritan in West Islip. He did the at home study but it was inconclusive so he had to go to the sleep center.

He said they were very professional and the room he was in was nice. He went in at 9, I believe, and they woke him at 5am.

DH had it done in the city where they diagnosed him with sleep apnea. I've never slept better since he went! Chat Icon If you're open to the city, I can tell you the name of the center.

My daughter did one at Good Sam (not the hospital but a location on Deer Park Avenue in Babylon)

My husband was able to do his sleep study at home - they shipped him the unit and instructions on how to wear it. The results were sent to his doctor.

DH had a sleep study a few months ago that revealed sleep apnea. He now sleeps with a CPAP machine and I have thankfully started to sleep again, too! He went to the sleep study center affiliated with St. Joseph's hospital on Hempstead Tpke in Bethpage. I know the hospital itself doesn't have a good reputation, but DH said he had no problems with the sleep center. He gets all of his equipment (machine, masks, tubing, etc.) from a place on the LIE service road in Plainview.
