Dd falls a lot
My dd is 2.5 and falls a lot when running around the house. At least once a day but usually more. I plan on bringing this up to her pediatrician but is this normal? I don’t remember my other daughter falling so much but I don’t think she ran so much either.

Re: Dd falls a lot
DS, now 5, fell a ton when he was a toddler. He is still a very active, crazy kid, and he is constantly running around, but he doesn't fall anymore. It was very stressful when he was the age of your DD...he always fell and would get big bumps on his head.

Re: Dd falls a lot
You could get her evaluated for Physical Therapy through the school district CPSE (a little closer to 3years old). This would rule out any underlying biomechanical reason for frequently falling.

Dd falls a lot
I wouldn't bother with the school district for falling. I would make an appointment with the orthopedist. Does she in toe a little or toe walk? My DD did and fell all the time.

Re: Dd falls a lot
Dd1 had PT for late walking. We actually had dd2 at an orthopedist earlier this year because she broke her leg (my mil fell on top of her, had nothing to do with her fallling). Good idea to take her back there just to check. The falling happened before and after the cast.

Re: Dd falls a lot
Is she wearing shoes when she's falling? Children tend to fall often when wearing shoes that are too small. When my kids start tripping, I usually know it's time to size up.
Also, check her ears. DD falls a good amount, but she has a hole in her eardrum, which throws off her equilibrium.

Dd falls a lot
I fell a lot when I was a kid and I still fall often even at almost 40.
I have very very high arches so my ankles can be unstable. That's what caused it in my case.

She’s barefoot around the house 99% of the time. That’s a good point about the ears too.

That’s so interesting. I have super high arches and really unstable ankles. I’ve fallen a bunch of times on stairs and can only wear shoes that have something that go around my ankle. Otherwise my ankles will pop around. I never put the two together.

Have you had her eye site checked? It may be nothing or it could be depth perception.

Re: Dd falls a lot
My dd fell a lot at that age. And she never put her hands down so her face would hit first! It was super stressful. At almost 6 I think she's fully outgrown that. But I still tell her to not run on cement lol. So maybe it's just something she has to outgrow too. I never thought of it as a problem, I just figured she was clumsy or whatever.
