Hotel for 1 night near Disney

We're going to be staying on the west coast for a week - about a 2-2.5 hour drive away. I wanted to drive to Disney for 1 day - drive out early in the morning, spend the day, drive back late that night, but DH thinks that's too much and would rather pay for 1 night in the hotel and do 2 days at Disney. I'm still undecided. If we decide to get a hotel, I don't see a need to stay on property for just one night, so...

Please recommend a hotel to spend 1 night near Magic Kingdom.

Thanks!

I agree with your husband, too much for one day. I would just book a room on property at Disney, then you don't have to deal with the Transportation and Ticket center if you are going to the Magic Kingdom. Value resorts are cheap, you get magicbands to easily charge your purchases and scan for tickets/fastpasses, and extra magic hours.

If you are looking to stay off property, there are literally hundreds of hotels around there. We have stayed at the Resdience Inn Lake Buena Vista off Palm Parkway, it was closer to Downtown Disney.

West coast of Florida? Or Cali?

Honestly, if Florida... it depends on price.

You can certainly stay at resorts. Check the prices. Certainly is more convenient... but it’s not THAT much of a difference. Fast pass is not That much of a difference unless you have your heart set on Mine train or a blockbuster attraction like that. But if the price is close to another hotel you would otherwise stay at, it is a bit easier (even if just for the fact that you can skip the 15 minute monorail ride).

You can do an orbitz search for hotels. There are tons a 15 minute drive away that are great (and cost $100 a night that are the same “level” room as a $200 a night Disney hotel).

The cheapest but toughest option is to wake up early and drive. I’ve done it. It’s not that bad (but we were 1.5 hours away). I don’t mind the drive... but it takes a bit longer than you think. Drink a coffee and sleep in the next AM and it cuts down on cost.

If you are going to Disneyland there are a ton of hotels that are within walking distance to the park entrance. They are all very affordable.

If you are going to Magic Kingdom in FL then look into any of the value resorts. We just did this last week. I booked one night at Pop Century for $115. We got access to fastpasses 60 days in advance and got magic bands for our one day at Epcot. It worked out really great.

I should have clarified Disney World.

I actually saw a pretty good deal at Pop Century, too. Did you check-in early in the morning? Or just leave your bags and then hop on transportation to WDW? I'm just trying to figure out how we'd handle the logistics of a quick 2 days. Thanks!

Once you book and order magic bands, they send you an email to do online check-in. Your magic bands are linked to your room reservation and your park tickets.

I purchased the park tickets when I made the room reservation. Then I ordered the magic bands which are free.

We had a car and drove from Daytona to the hotel early on the day we planned to go to the park. I also set up a stroller delivery from Kingdom Strollers to be delivered to the hotel by 7am.

This is what we did that day:

-Left Daytona at 5:30am and got to Pop Century by 7am.
-Picked up the stroller and went into the resort to guest services.
-At guest services I made sure that I was checked in and that our magic bands were set up with the hotel reservation and our park tickets.
-Since we had a car, we left our bags in the car and drove to Epcot. With a hotel reservation, you park for free at the parks.
-We got to Epcot around 8:15am and parked close to the entrance so there was no need to use their tram service.
-We went through security as soon as we walked up to the entrance and then headed towards the front and waited for "rope-drop".

The entire day was super easy! The hotel texted me and and also sent me an email when our room was ready with the room number and building.

You can take the transportation from the hotel to the parks but I didn't want to have to wait around at the end of our day to get on the bus so that is why we drove.

Hotel for 1 night near Disney

I have done Disney for the day while staying about 45 minutes north of Tampa on the coast. It’s not bad at all.

As an FYI Pop Century (a value), now has queen size beds, wood laminate floors and is fully redone throughout the entire resort. It's nice for what it is. It's cheap, you get those other perks. So I would book that one!

Thanks! I think we'll go with that. We're literally only going to sleep there, so it'll be fine.
