More Disney questions :) Fast-passes

We make our selections in abt a month or so, and my travel agent said to start thinking about what we want. My in-laws are coming and said they will do the same that we do basically, but their ONLY request is soarin' when we are in epcot. DD will be 2.5 so we are trying to pick rides she would love. This is what I came up with so far, but would love feedback :)

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
1. Toy Story Mania
2. Alien Swirling Saucers
3. Voyage of the little mermaid
EXTRA after the others are used (for me and dh): Rockin’ rollercoaster, tower of terror

EPCOT
1. Frozen Ever After
2. Nemo
3. Spaceship Earth
EXTRA:
-Epcot character spot?

MAGIC KINGDOM
FAST PASSES
1. Dumbo
2. Astro Orbiter
3. Enchanted tales with Belle
EXTRA : Pirates, Ariel’s Grotto, Little Mermaid show, any meet and greets

Astro doesn't have fast passes. I also wouldn't FP Dumbo..they have two of them, and you can play in the tent while you wait, kids love that.

I would add Peter Pan at MK and maybe Aladdin's carpets instead of Dumbo. Or Jungle Cruise (that one gets long)

Figment is another ride at Epcot that is good for your daughter's age

Oh right i remember figment. that's the purple dinosaur thing right?

I forgot we will be in MK for two days so I have like 6 pre-planned fast passes I can do. Because of that, I'll prob keep dumbo anyway, but i'll add peter pan and aladdin too. What's jungle cruise?

Also, what about buzz and pooh?

Definitely those also! Pooh line moves slower than Buzz, so I would FP that one!

The Jungle Cruise is a boat ride down a river, it has corny jokes, and lots of fake animals. It's our favorite lol. Do it during the daylight though, not great at night!

Also, when you are there, utilize the "tap, grab and modify" strategy while in the app. You just keep refreshing the ride you want a FP for (after you used up all your others), then just grab any time slot. Then hit modify, and keep tapping until a sooner time comes up. Works like a charm 9 times out of 10 for us!

At HS, toy story mania and alien saucers are both tier 1. You can only pick one tier 1 in your original 3.

Don't know that I would FP Dumbo in MK.... I would try for Peter Pan, Pooh, Aladdin's Carpet Rides, or character meet (my DD went to the one with Cinderella and Elena).

I can’t answer for HS.

For MK:
Peter Pan
Small world
Character meet

I think at 2.5, your kid won’t really “get” the Belle encounter. My 6 year old liked it, but my 3 year old (though was good about it) wasn’t thrilled and it was kinda fast for a character meet.

I hit Adventureland first thing because I think those rides are the best. I do it rope drop: Jungle cruise, then Pirates, then Flying carpets, then tiki room. Those are my kids’ absolute favorites (along with Peter Pan and small world) and the area is quiet in the AM. I then hit up fantasy land slowly only doing FP and the occasional line.

For Epcot...
We did what you did. DS loved Soaring, but our 3 year old was too short. They loved the Land ride. They loved spaceship earth until we got trapped on the ride and had to walk down. I don’t think we will be going back. The imagination ride was great. The play area was awesome too. Realistically, though we used FP, it was almost not needed in Epcot.

If you are not getting a FP for Soarin then you should absolutely rope drop that ride. We did that in August because we had a FP for Frozen and couldn't get both.

we are doing a FP for my inlaws because they want to go on it, but DD is too young to go on it. Dh and I went on it twice before and i actually think it stinks lol. Way too long of a line for a very short ride IMO

Don't bother fastpassing Nemo, line was always pretty short. I'd actually fastpass the character spot at Epcot. The line for Spaceship never looked that long to be honest. Frozen you have to fast pass unless going really early or late. I wouldn't fast past Dumbo or Aladdin, line was never that bad. Try to get one for Peter Pan, Buzzlight Year. Hollywood Studios, I'd fastpass Toy Story Mania. Aliens the wait was around 30 minutes for which wasn't too bad. But I had a Toy Story obsessed 4 year old with me.

Character spot at Epcot is now a tier 1. So it’s either that or frozen and I’d def do frozen.

Frozen and soarin are both tier one so you can’t fast pass both, but I would do frozen...soarin is easier as 4th fast pass and soarin waits are usually less than frozen.

Soarin' is 40" height minimum. My DD is 2.5 and only 36" so she can't get on. Just a heads up!

soarin' is just for my in-laws- they want to go on it. Dh and I will be doing frozen ever after for our fast pass selection... there are certain rides they want to do so we will just split up for awhile

I'm surprised so many people (not just on this board) say to FP Peter Pan. Is that line really so long? I don't recall the ride being so spectacular.

It's the slowest moving line in all the parks. It's a classic ride, so that is why it's so popular. The one in Disneyland also gets SUPER long (and they don't have fastpass)

Duh! You totally said that earlier in the thread. Anyway, I'm going on Sunday (3 days, 21 hours, and 51 minutes... NOT that I'm counting or anything!) and my DD is the same age so hopefully I'll have more insight when I get back!

So I just got back from Disney on Friday and we did a lot of the same rides. We only got to two rides in HS so we did the Swirling Saucers (couldn't get slinky dog) and Tower of Terror since it's my sister's fave.

I don't think you really need a FP for Dumbo- there are two and we waited maybe 10 minutes for it? And that was around 11:30 AM. They also have a cute little play area you can duck into if LO gets antsy on line.

Enchanted Tales with Belle was DD's favorite. She LOVED it! I'm pregnant and got weepy seeing her up there in the little "play" they do. Chat Icon Chat Icon Then we had lunch at Be Our Guest (really nice for a quick service lunch!) and met Gaston outside of his tavern.. and her life was made. Chat Icon

The Frozen ride was another favorite- she keeps telling me the whole story about her singing and the "big bumps" (there's a little drop at the end). Chat Icon But we were unable to get a FP for it. Luckily we had the princess breakfast at Akershus in Epcot before the park opened so we literally walked onto the Frozen ride immediately after (about 9:30-ish?). The princess breakfast was amazing, too. They had Belle, Snow White, Aurora, and Cinderella.

ETA: We also did the character meet FP at Epcot that same day and met Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy. Maybe that's an option instead of Chef Mickey? I know it's not got the greatest reviews.

ETA: I will say this, we had BIG plans for the trip and missed a lot of stuff because it is unpredictable at best with a 2.5 y/o. She got tired or cranky at random times and often wanted to be carried (by only me, her pregnant mom, not any of the other 5 people we traveled with Chat Icon) so it made us slower than we anticipated. There's also a $10 per person cancellation fee for dining reservations which are cancelled in less than 24 hours in advance. We literally RACED across Epcot with a cranky toddler to make our reservation at Via Napoli only for her to fall asleep when we got there. Chat Icon She did wake up when the food arrived and got her second wind, but it was not my idea of fun. Though the food was AMAZING.

Thanks for this! maybe we will look into a character meet and greet instead of chef mickey, and do something else in MK that day instead... it would be easier than having to leave the park for sure. we are def going to try to get frozen on a FP, but could prob do the meet and greet as a another FP selection since epcot doesn't have as many rides to pick from :)

Next time, to avoid the cancellation fee if you really want to cancel, call the dining number and tell them you need to change your dining reservation for a random date in the future. You won't be charged. Then just cancel that new reservation on the app later that day or the next day.
