To put 2 kids on the bus 5 days a week. I would have them from 7am-9am daily.

I would do like $50/week if it was a friend and have the kids come over with their breakfast.. $10/day.

I don’t know them. It’s someone on dd’s Bus.

I would charge $100. Our mornings are sometimes utter chaos (and I'm a SAHM). Add 2 more kids to the mix and I would be super-stressed, I don't think I would want to do it for $10 a day...but that's just me.

$100 a week seems high. Is before care not an option?

No clue. I don’t know these people and I don’t know anything about before care in my district as it’s not needed for my dd.

2 hours per day, 5 days per week, 2 kids = $5 per hour per kid if you charge $100.

And mornings for most families, and most DC, are crazy....

Re: What would you charge?

I think $100/week is fair for two kids two hours every morning. Maybe I'd go as low as $85 a week if it's really not too much hassle for you. Like the kids aren't a problem at all and they just sit there watching TV or something. Otherwise, it really wouldn't be worth my time.

I agree with the $100 and I wouldn’t go lower. Finding care for 2 hours a day isn’t easy and the extra work needs to worth your while.

I would do 50 a week, but I feel like once you have a few kids adding some more in isn’t too big of a deal

i feel like $100 a week is reasonable. thats $10 an hour for 2 kids... thats an average rate for babysitting. plus you do need to make it worth your while, really, because mornings are hectic enough as it is, and you're adding in 2 more kids.

Re: What would you charge?

$50-$200 depending on a lot:

If you know the person well.
If you have to do anything other than put kids in front of TV for 2 hours.

Going rate is around $20 an hour... so 5 days x 2 hours= 200 (but that is a babysitter who comes to someone’s house and watches kids exclusively). AND that is neighborhood dependent (range is $15-25).

That said, I’d go for $100! It’s “worth” the inconvenience for you and worth it for parent.

But when I was a kid, a neighbor did this for my mom for free.

I'd say 100 a week. I was going to pay someone 15 to 20 dollars an hour to do the same for my DS, but we ended up being okay with the before care at school.

Re: What would you charge?

My before care at school costs my $10 per day without breakfast so I think $100 for 2 kids 5 days per week is fair.

Re: What would you charge?

I pay 110 a month for before care for my son who is in 3rd grade. I think 100 a week is way too much IMO

$100/week is way too high IMO. Especially if they are being dropped off to you and will most likely just sit and chill till the bus gets there. For an entire month of before care in my district it is $96.

For reference, DS does not go to before care. We have a private sitter. she comes from 645ish to 915 ish and 330ish to 430 ish, 5 days a week. One morning she does not come. We pay $175 for the week. But she is responsible for getting him dressed, fed, packing lunch, etc.
