1. Has a doctor ever told it's ok to drink beer while pregnant?

2. Do you think it's ok to bring a small baby or child to a brewery.

Thanks for your feedback

Re: Beer & breweries

I was never told it was ok to drink a beer while pregnant. However I wasn't given a list of things I couldn't have either. My doc was more like....use your brain , just be smart.

Kids at a brewery...i see nothing wrong with it as long as they aren't being disruptive. I take my dd to the winieries which is tbe same thing really

Re: Beer & breweries

I have heard that some doctors say it is ok to have small amount of alcohol in the 3rd trimester, but I have only seen people have like a half glass of wine a Christmas or something, but the theories on what is ok & isn't seems to change all the time.

In most cases, yes it is ok to bring babies to breweries.( the website will probably say if it isn't ok) It is kind of weird, but technically they are not bars. One I go to frequently used to allow dogs too, but they changed that this year.

Another one that I have been to is more like a restaurant- they even have a kids menu.

I've never heard a doctor say beer is ok, but I have seen many doctors do it themselves- not shotgunning a 6 pack or anything, but one beer or one glass of wine.

I know lots of people who have taken their kids to breweries. I've taken DD to a beer garden and she had a blast.

I think having one beer late 2nd tri/3rd tri is fine. I mean, I'm no doctor, but I'm cool with it if that counts!

My cousin has taken his son to the breweries every weekend since he was an infant. I'm assuming its fine!

Beer & breweries

I take my son to breweries. He actually just asked if we could go back to our favorite one.

Re: Beer & breweries

Breweries have some of the best food for kids. LOL!
Places are loud and fun so no issues bringing kids to breweries. We do. There's one by Hershey Park I take the kids to also.

Never did have beer when pregnant so can't answer that one.

I had a sip of champagne, but that was it.

Yes, it is ok to take kids to the breweries. There is a lot of outdoor activities, but probably not now, its cold.
My kids actually like going to the Riverhead Ciderhouse, because there food is good, and so are the games they have inside for kids.

My doctor actually told me to have a glass of wine occasionally to relax - I was having bad anxiety due to pre-term contractions. Basically the same thing as beer.

I guess it depends on the brewery. I wouldn't bring kids after 8pm.

Kids at breweries are fine. As a CF’er, I’m happy that many breweries are open to families because it means I can hang with my friends who have kids at places that aren’t 100% kid-centric.

I also was told during the 3rd trimester it was ok to have one small drink occasionally.

As for bringing kids to breweries... I am kind of torn on this one. When I go to a brewery, I am there to be an adult and have some drinks and relax. I would personally not bring my children (mine are older though, 15, 13, and 11). Even when they were little though, I would not have brought them. I am there to relax and have a good time and would not want to have had to deal with managing their behaviors, keeping them occupied etc. IMO, breweries are like bars and for adults... I would never have brought them to a bar either.

When I am at breweries, if others bring their children, I do not necessarily have a "problem" with it if the kids are not being disruptive, but if the kids are being loud and annoying, it ruins my time.

I guess what I am saying (and again, I seem to be in the minority here) I do not think that breweries or wineries are child-appropriate.

Re: Beer & breweries

I have never heard a doctor say you can drink alcohol during pregnancy. I would think that's a big liability for them to take on by saying it's ok. I personally would have a half a glass of my favorite beer or wine (rarely) during my third trimester (and even once during my second tri at a wedding).

I bring my kids to breweries/wineries all the time, and I see lots of babies and kids whenever I go.

I took my son to a brewery when he was a toddler and there wasn't an issue.

I never took a chance of drinking while pregnant.

I know a TON of people that bring kids to breweries, so that is no problem at all.

I do not have children, nor have I ever been present; so I don't know about the first question.

As for the second question, I often see kids at breweries with their families.

I do not have children, but all I know was when my mom was pregnant with me, she was told not to drink so much that you fall down. I think I turned out OK Chat Icon 40+ years later.

But seriously, this is something you need to talk about with your doctor.

As for children in breweries, I’m not a fan after certain hours. During the afternoon, then it’s fine. After 5 or 6, no thanks.

Omg my mom was told the same exact thing with me and my sis over 40 years ago!! Chat Icon
Because if you fell, you might harm the baby. Legit that was what she was told.
Must have been standard protocol back then. Chat Icon

Yup, exact same reason, too— you might harm the baby. Nothing about the effects of what alcohol could do. There was also the smoking, but that’s off topic.
