Blueberry Croissant Puff
Based on the rave reviews from this site, I plan on making this for Christmas.
Do grocery stores sell croissants or do you get from a bakery?

Re: Blueberry Croissant Puff
My Stop and Shop usually has them in the bakery area in a box of a like 4 maybe. And they sometimes have them loose like with the loose rolls and bagels and you can buy by the piece.
BJs and/or Costco will sometimes have them in the bakery area too- in a box of like 6 maybe? But they are hit or miss and are sometimes out of them right before holidays.

Thank you so much! I wasn't sure if grocery stores carry them.

I made this Christmas morning but with chocolate chunks instead of blueberries. Divine.

I plan on making this for NYD. Is Mascarpone better?

I like it because I add sliced almonds and coarse sugar to the top, and I feel like it lends itself better to the flavor

Blueberry Croissant Puff
I made this on Christmas and thought it was delicious. My kids, though, complained about it being mushy. Is it supposed to be soft or did I undercook it?

Re: Blueberry Croissant Puff
When you beat the cream cheese with the other ingredients, does it completely dissolve? My cream cheese broke down into small little balls that remained on top of the croissants when I poured the milk mixture over them.

I notice that on mine too but once it bakes it kind of all disappears.

It didn't on mine. Looked nothing like the picture on the blog. Will tweak the technique a bit and try again!

I leave my cream cheese in the package on the counter for hours, and half-n-half/milk and eggs out until they're almost at room temperature. I add the sugar slowly and the milk in at intervals/stages. Mine looks like a cheesecake when I pour it over the croissant mixture.

I think that's the trick.... everything should probably be room temp to avoid it getting those clumps

Re: Blueberry Croissant Puff
Well I’ve got the ingredients at room temp. I’m making it for breakfast tomorrow. I’m using raspberries instead. I couldn’t find blueberries anywhere here. But at least I have yummy European croissants!

Re: Blueberry Croissant Puff
Well, I finally made it. It was very good and easy to do! SO said it was fantastic. The only thing I noticed is that it was slightly liquid when I was mixing it. After PPs said that it was chunky, I expected mine to be the same way as well.
It tasted like a custard to me. I love custard anyway.
So what I did was use raspberries and I left out all ingredients for an hour or so before beating.
I’ll definitely use this recipe again.

No it's supposed to be all liquid. the talk of chunks wasn't really "chunks" more like white spots or flecks of cream cheese that didn't complete dissolve when mixed in. Which I think if you use all room temp ingredients that resolves that issue.
Glad you liked it! It's so delicious!
