Science Experiment Ideas?
Any good suggestions or websites for cool/unique science experiment ideas? DS is in first grade. I've done some research but nothing has caught my eye.
TIA

Science Experiment Ideas?
Spangler Science has some really fun ideas!! I had a Super Science Girls club at my house for my daughter and some of her friends, and we did some awesome things from his site! They really loved the egg/pie plate one! Elephant toothpaste was a hit too. Also the layering of the different colors of water into a straw. Blowing up a balloon on a bottle with heat was cool too!

Place dry erase markers on a plate. Slowly pour water over the marker. The marker will come off the plate and dance around the water.
Milk observation lab: https://www.stevespanglerscience.com/lab/experiments/milk-color-explosion/
Place a gummy bear in a cup of water overnight. It will increase in size dramatically.

We have a few science kit experiments that DS LOVES doing. Look on Amazon, there are a lot of them.

Growing Germs
You can swab different areas of the house and see what germs grow.

Re: Science Experiment Ideas?
Is this for a science fair? Last year we did which bubble lasts the longest. We made bubble solutions with dawn soap, corn syrup and glycerin. And timed how long the bubbles lasted.

I know this sounds good in theory, but please do not do this experiment at home! You have no idea what bacteria you are growing on those plates. It is VERY dangerous. I am a science teacher and will not even do this with my HS students as the risks for illness are too great even if you have access to the correct materials such as an autoclave and other sterilizing materials.
It is only safe to grow bacteria from a kit that is not pathogenic.

Makes sense. I still remember doing this in HS. We cultured our hands before and after washing them with soap. Really made very little difference. It was one of the few things I remember clearly and I remember it every time I wash my hands and use purell afterwards! My HS did have autoclaves.
Real experiments with hypotheses that DD science class did in K involved getting an ice cube to melt faster (foil/sun/shade/black vs white paper). Lots of thought & not much work/equipment.

My dd’s class did this thing where they put m&ms in water and the m floats off, in one whole piece. It was super cool. You can google it.
