In my family baby sprinkles are the norm. We celebrate every baby regardless of how many previous pregnancies, gender, years apart etc... Its how I grew up so I was actually surprised to learn here that this could be considered tacky.
The baby showers are usually at someone's house or a hall not necessarily a fancy restaurant. For us its about spending time together with family and friends with great food and even dancing! I always look forward to the celebration and have fun.

Eh, I wouldn't want one for myself. But as long as there's booze I don't mind going to them :)

I think they are wonderful and I would never begrudge a friend or family member for having one. Every baby deserves to be celebrated and if I were a good friend or family of someone about to have a baby, I could never be pissed about being asked to celebrate the new life with them, ever! Id go with bells on bc I love my friends, family and their children and love to celebrate happy moments in their lives AND BRING THEM GIFTS! Thats the kind of friend/sister that I am. Id never "hate to give up my weekend" to celebrate my sisters pregnancy and my new niece or nephew...never.
