So many scam phone calls

It’s unbelievable lately. Yesterday I got one having to do with federal student loans. I’ve never had a federal student loan in my life. Today I got one saying my social security number has been “suspended”. (I didn’t answer either call - these were both VMs that were left.). Seriously is this what society has become? And I won’t even get started on the 3-4 daily other random calls I get from numbers that are one digit off from mine (they never seem to leave messages). I hate humanity lately - everyone trying to rip people off and make a buck - so sick.

I got the federal student loan one a few weeks ago.
The funny thing is I was home when it came and I heard my machine pick up and it literally sounded exactly like a real live woman leaving a message- going on and on about please call back and I'm going to give you a reference number for when you call back... etc
So I pick up to tell her that I never had a student loan in my life and I keep saying, hello, hello and she keeps speaking over me.
It was a computer- but it sounded SO real.

I also got the SS # being suspended.
And all the ones about a warrant for my arrest due to back taxes etc.

All such bullshitt and so annoying.

I never pick up but man it's non stop

I just don't answer, let the voice mail pick up.
With all the spoofing of numbers, I can't tell when a call is real or fake.
Same thing on my cell.
Even my work phone gets these freaking spam calls.

There's a special place in hell for the assholes who torture us this way.

Yes I also got a message from some woman calling about my student loans. I knew it was a scam because I had paid my loans off years ago but I could see how someone would call back and be scammed.

ETA yes the one I got was the one Nell mentioned where it sounded real and with a reference #
