Polarized Sunglasses
What is the benefit of polarized sunglasses? I just got a new pair of sunglasses and they are polarized and I can't see my cell phone screen with them, or the screen on the gas pump, or the map/display screen in my car or any electronic screen really. It's annoying to be honest. I have to keep taking them on and off to see things. It distorts everything electronic.
So what is the added benefit of them? What am I missing? Better UV protection?

They don't have better UV protection - they help you see better in high glare situations (driving, near the water, etc).

Re: Polarized Sunglasses
Yeah I hate them. I have to keep pulling them off to read anything. And the kicker is they charge more for them like it's some great benefit.

You get used to it. I wear mine running and on the water (at first). Now I won’t buy sunglasses that aren’t. And nope they are more expensive. Mine are $25. And the best sunglasses I ever bought

I have them - Maui Jim's - the best! So much better than any others I've tried. Costco has them reasonably priced (usually about $50 - $100). I won't wear any other brand after trying these.

Re: Polarized Sunglasses
Maybe it depends on which ones you buy, but I found that they filter sunlight without it being dark. I don't have trouble reading the displays in the car. I have a little trouble with my phone, but that is true with any sunglasses. If I don't have my reading glasses on, I need a lot of light to read.

Polarized Sunglasses
Polarized takes the glare off of things and work better in more direct sunlight, around the water and driving. It reduces reflection and angled light and you see light that is head on. The downside is that light from displays that you're looking at off axis are also blocked too.

Yes this is exactly the problem. They are fine when I'm outdoors or driving but an electronic display is hard to see
