Look up "school for the deaf" in your area. My local school offers classes teaching sign language. Good luck!

1. Go to Google
2. Type : Learning American Sign Language

3. Most important - Go back to work! This is a new job for you! Don't you want to make a good impression? Don't give them a reason to complain about you.

This particular poster only crawls out of the woodwork to make nasty and condescending comments.
Never to offer any real help or advice.
It's a pattern.

What does that have to do with anything

When Marathon posted about getting a new job she made a point to come on and tell her to stay off the internet at her new job then too.
Apparently she has a weird obsession with this woman's work habits.

My Momma raised me to believe that if you don't have anything nice to say, then keep your mouth shut. Obviously someone missed a few key lessons in childhood.

Hofstra has a great adult Ed class on sign language. they actually have all the classes to get certified but you can also just take the classes. Maybe try to rent tapes that use sign language.

Check out local community colleges. They may offer it as an adult ed class though their language department

Do you have a BOCES by you? They offer it. I've also rented videos/dvds from the library.

Definitely check out your Community College or any adult education programs. I can ask my friends who did their PHD in sign language, but they are in New Zealand, so I’m not sure how much info they would have in California. Let me know, and I’ll ask.

Check out your local community college, they should have a class for ASL there where it's relatively inexpensive.
