Where to go for 4 days/3 nights. Or maybe 4 nights
Hubby and I are turning 40
We’d like to go on a little vacation without the kids but because of the kids I don’t want to go too far away
Any suggestions? We’ve been to Bahamas and Aruba so we’d like to try someplace new
We’ve been to Maine - ogunquit He’s been to key west for fishing
I’d like to sit my fat ass on a beach

Where to go for 4 days/3 nights. Or maybe 4 nights
we had a great time in Charleston, SC for our 10th anniversary a few years ago. lots of great restaurants for dinners out, we toured a plantation, did a horse and carriage ride around the city, drove about an hour away for a beach day in Edisto Island...

I’ve heard great things about the Keys, but I’ve never been there.
Savannah is really nice.
Are you willing to go up north? Maine is fantastic. I loved Kennebunkport. You really need to do that place soon, or else it gets too cold.
The Finger Lakes are great in the Fall I’ve heard.
Montreal?
Are you looking for beachy?

OMG it's the most beautiful resort! The pool is amazing, poolside service for food and drinks. The beach is just stunning. Calm water, steps built down into the water, sea life, you can fish of the pier, swim with all kinds of fish, see to the bottom. The rooms are very luxurious. It's only a few years old. Just a stunning, relaxing setting. Amazing sunsets. We flew to Fort Lauderdale from Islip but you can fly to Miami which is a bit closer. We rented a car and the drive was about an hour and 20 min. It's the first key. You can drive and explore the other keys as well though. Just a lot of beauty and nature there.

That looks amazing! I'm always looking for great Marriott properties to use points for. Might have to do this one next year

Is Veterans Day a good time to go? God prob toward the end of hurricane season
In case we can’t get to the keys or any place where hurricane season touches around that time of year, please, keep the suggestions coming !

Curaçao or Bonaire? They are out of the hurricane zone and they are like Aruba.
Costa Rica?

Highly recommend! Very laid back, relaxing vibe in the keys too. Lots of casual on the water dining options off site. My only complaint was the prices in the onsite restaurants were outrageous but there are so many options nearby you don't have to eat onsite.

This is one of my favorite pictures I took there. It doesn't even look like Florida-more like the Caribbean. Just amazing.

If I get to the keys, can I borrow your summer wardrobe lol
It just dawned on me that I own nothing remotely nice -
3 little kids = no time or patience to shop

LOL, sure! Actually what's great about the keys is that once you leave this resort, everything is super casual. We went to a lot of restaurants in neighboring keys that were super low key- wear a pair of shorts and flip flops and eat with your feet in the sand. The resort has some nice restaurants where you get a bit more dressed up, but everything else i encountered was super casual- think Fire Island.

Re: Where to go for 4 days/3 nights. Or maybe 4 nights
November can be cool in Florida. We often go then because it’s easy for us to take vacation, but pools need to be heated. My last trip in November, we had weather in the 70s and rain when I went to the first key. We had one day of sunshine and relative warmth (only NYers were in pools) on a 5 day trip (no big deal if restaurants and being inside the hotel is your thing, but it’s not mine).
Personally, I wouldn’t risk it and I would go to Aruba/further south (which is hard on a short trip) or wait until the late Spring and then go to Florida!
