nights and days mixed up-any tips on how to "change" this or does it work itself out??-thanks!

Just wondering about this- i just had DD last wednesday so believe me i know it's early but i have a Chat Icon about newborns having their nights and days mixed up. she sleeps most of the day and like to be up from about 9/10-to 1/2 am
she just wants to be up- not really screaming or crying unless we put her down and she gets "bored"
any tips on altering this or does this work itself out as time goes on? if there are things i can do or that worked for you i would appreciate your sharing them!! thanks you so much in advance! Chat Icon

the tip that I got that worked was at night keep the lights off or very dim so that they know its night time. you are not suppose to talk to them either during night time/sleep time too- it was a challenge when it came to changing her poopie diapers in a dim light and not talking to her. omg it seems like so long ago- I miss those days!!!!

During the day keep the house as light as possible. Open shades, let that sun in!
At night, make it very dark. Turn off all lights, close shades, etc.
It will take a while for her to adjust, but, it does help.Chat Icon

I'm currently going through the same thing. Some of the suggestions I've heard were to wake her every 3 hours during the day to eat....and keep her up for a little while. I'll wake her 15-20 minutes before she's going to eat and get her awake - then let her eat. After she's done and burped, I'll keep her up for another 15-20 minutes and then let her fall asleep.
She would sleep her days away if I let her! And then keep me up all night long!

I also agree with keeping it dark at night. I also don't talk to her or make eye contact with her at night. When I change her diaper in the middle of the night, I do it quickly and silently, wrap her up in her blanket and put her right back to bed (and keep my fingers crossed!).
