School Halloween party ideas
I'm on the board this year and we are brainstorming ideas for the school's "Monster Mash" party we do after school. We have done trunk or treat, DJ, pick pumpkins... all in the back. The pumpkins didn't work out bc we had too much. Not many parents did trunks so only had about 3 - 5 cars. We want something different so want to know what your school does that you love. Grades 1 - 5. We do it usually around 6PM for a couple of hours and charge for it. We were thinking a movie and playing Hotel Transylvania or something. Crafts? Any ideas are great! Thanks!

Re: School Halloween party ideas
I may not be your target audience here, as I am never really able to attend any of the 6pm after school events but wanted to just throw out ideas...
decorate cupcakes painting pumpkins trick or treating in the classrooms a dunk tank (if the teachers are wiling to get dunked) crafts - like decorate a witches hat guess how many candy corn in a jar (for a prize) Halloween themed bingo face painting
Our district has a pumpkin patch during the day where all kids bring home pumpkins for free, and they can trick or treat one evening in the high school, also free.
ETA - our school does do a movie night (not Halloween related) kids bring blankets and chairs and from what I saw, it was a huge success, so a movie is a good idea

Re: School Halloween party ideas
Our school splits the gym in half and K-2 will do a DJ, dance contest, limbo and wrap as a mummy with toilet paper for an hour.
Grades 3-5 will be in the other half playing carnival type games to win raffle tickets.
They switch and then at the end we do a toy give away with the raffle tickets.
We have collections for toys and prizes the weeks before the bash.
The kids love to check their raffle tickets and win prizes.
I think a straw maze would be really cool too though!

We used to do a scary story where you read about brains and eyeballs and the kids are blindfolded and when you get to each part they touch certain items (spaghetti for brains, peeled grapes for eyeballs). We also did the toilet paper mummy game. But their favorite was always donuts on a string. We tied donuts (usually outside from the deck or the swingset) from a string and the kids had to eat the donut without touching it with their hands. It was so fun to watch them!

Our school does a fall festival -- they set up the gym with carnival like games and you buy tickets to play. The older kids run the stands and hand out little trinket prizes. It is very cute. They also have a scarecrow contest, a bounce house outside, and in the cafeteria they sell food items.

Mummy making contest - have the kids use toilet paper or streamers to dress each other up as mummies.
Make your own dirt cup - pudding, oreo crumbs, gummy worms/bugs, cookies to make a gravestone, etc.

My DS's school did this but in a haunted room. The grapes, spaghetti, etc were in closed boxes.

Our school does a carnival. The school is k-8 so the game booths are all run by the 8th graders. It’s really fun.

I remember loving this as a kid. I also remember one year we had a spooky fortune teller at a Girl Scout party who had a fake crystal ball and that was a hit. I actually remember my fortune-I’d get married and have one child, a girl and have just enough money for everything I wanted. That 16 year old girl may have had an actual gift since she was spot on
