Another dinner question

If you pick up a rotisserie chicken from the supermarket at around 5:30 - would you feel comfortable leaving it out until like 7:45? This is the scenario when DH has late days at work and I pick up a chicken on the way home from work (which I do maybe 1-2 times per month). Just seems annoying to refrigerate it for like two hours, then reheat and dry it out. But it always makes me nervous to leave it sit for that long.

I'd be fine leaving it out.

Though I don't mind rotisserie chicken cold from the fridge either.

Not for 2 hours. Bacteria begins to grow then. I'd leave it in a warm oven, though. Keep it on very low and it should be fine.

Re: Another dinner question

I've done it and we're all still alive.
I tend to be super laxed with stuff like that and have never once in my life gotten sick
Maybe if it was the height of summer and your house wasn't ACed I'd think twice....

Also- aren't they out under a heat lamp at the store?
They aren't refrigerated and I am sure they make them earlier than when you pick them up.

I wouldn't have a problem with it, I've done it before.

Definitely safe to eat.

All its doing is coming down to room temperature. You aren't supposed to refrigerate any food until it gets to room temperature anyway.

If you think about it, look how long food is out on Holidays. Never heard of anyone getting sick from that.

I do it all the time. Granted, whoever is eating it 2 hours later is heating it up again but we have all survived. LOL

Re: Another dinner question

I put it in the fridge for an hour and cook it for an hour. I always cook costco chicken because they are meant to be cooked at hone for 45 minutes.
