Re: Birthday party and Coronavirus

In general I would not skip a bday party, but D&B is open to the public during party times, which would make me more hesitant. If it was a private party, I wouldn't think twice.

Give it another week and then ask around to see whether his friends are still planning on attending.

Things are changing so quickly - I wouldn’t make a decision now. If things are as they are now I would go.

Same here. My DS's bday is in 3 weeks but its at our house. We're moving forward as planned.

I would not go. I have family in Italy in the Milan area and they said things are bad right now. That we are all taking this a little too lax, that we are nowhere near the peak of this and things will get worse before they even start to get better. I believe them. Things are going to be worse in a few weeks. I hope I am so wrong, but I don't think I will be.

Agree with this. Things go from bad to worst in no time. A lot can happen in 3 weeks.

I would go. As a matter of fact, I took my 4 year old with me to the mall. There a lot of people who are not jumping on the mass hysteria train.

I agree. It has gotten worse over here, too. I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. It isn’t mass hysteria at this point.

We would go also. I have a party this saturday & the mom is thinking of canceling. I told her to have it. The place will probably be empty.

I just wanted to update that I decided that I will not send my DD to the bday next Saturday even though I originally was going to. So many things are changing day to day, and I don't want to risk it.... I just texted the mom this morning that DD will no longer be able to attend, hopefully its enough notice that she will be able to let the party place know for headcount purposes.

Well if D&B holds more than 500 people, you wouldn't have been going even if you wanted too. And by next week, we unfortunately are going to be in a much worse position.

I wouldn't worry too much- I'd be surprised if they still have it. I think I'm going to push my DS's birthday back, too.

Re: Birthday party and Coronavirus

As of this morning I have received cancellation emails for all bday parties that were planned to happen in the next two weeks. I would absolutely not start planning a party now for three weeks from now. Hold off and save yourself the headache.

Re: Birthday party and Coronavirus

My DS had an invite to a birthday party today and we canceled this morning. I just don't want to risk it. Our schools are closed, DH is now working from home - it would be for nothing if we were to go to a party.
