Just an observation

I see a lot of posts on Facebook, and on here, and just in general- that all we have to do is stay home, watch Netflix, and enjoy being safe and cozy in our homes with our families.
I understand why we are doing this. I watch the news, I know the tri state area is in the middle of a very real and horrifying crisis. People are dying, yes, even young and healthy people. I am willing to do my part.
However, this is not easy, for many people. Another post on here had me thinking. Not everyone lives with others. Not everyone is married, or has children. There are single parents, people trying to homeschool their children while working from home. Small business/restaurant owners who are now faced with the reality that their livelihoods, may be gone forever. Those who struggle with mental health, whose anxiety and depression is being magnified tenfold because of this.
This is not easy. It is necessary, but it is hard. People have a right to complain that they hate this. That they wish they could go back to work, that their kids could go back to school, that life was the way it was just one month ago.
Now is not the time to judge for how we are choosing to handle this situation, and being miserable stuck in the house, and fearing for your job, does not mean you do not care about keeping others safe from this virus.

Re: Just an observation

I notice that too. I think everyone is going stir crazy. The "glass is half full" people just try to make everyone see the brighter side instead of swelling on the extremely ****** situation the world is in right now. I don't take it personally. That's just how they cope. Me? I ***** and moan, take a Xanax when I can't catch my breath and share funny memes every chance I get to help people chuckle. Been spending time at night on the House Party App with my family, playing games and just doing something different than what we've been doing for now 27days at home.

The mental stress of this is no joke. My entire body has been vibrating out of nowhere. I feel extremely claustrophobic but when I'm outside, my allergies make me feel like I 100% have the Rona (as we've been calling it) I don't know how we are going to survive another month

I think everyone is struggling in one way or another. Some more than others obviously but that's true with every situation. I haven't seen anyone on here tell anyone to not complain.

Chat Icon not to hijack but this is what we've been calling it too. Every time one of us sneezes or clears our throats we're like "oh no it's Rona".

The allergies are awful right now, between all the dust from me cleaning closets/under the cabinets, and the pollen starting outside, I keep thinking I've caught it.

Re: Just an observation

I have noticed less and less people saying how much they are excited to be home with their families and the “bonding time” phrases they kept using.

I honestly don’t mind being home as I am blessed to be working and getting paid AND getting things done around my house at the same time.

Is my family driving me nuts at times?Absolutely as it is always a screaming competition and when you are the type of person who can’t sit still it is much harder for those people.

I don’t think this is black and white for everyone and I dislike also when people think whatever they do or see experiencing is the same for everyone or could be.

My allergies are bad too. Like daily, every day.
It usually is later in the season but it's been going on for weeks now.
I really need to start taking an allergy med daily to at least keep it at bay.

Re: Just an observation

So to add to the OPs observation, I find the people on FB that are the glass-full types (constantly posting that they are making the best of it) are also the ones selling essential oils or some other shit. Idk why that annoys me so much, but I wish they would stop trying to peddle their goods by pretending a tiny vial of oil is making them soooo happy. Like they don't even realize their stuck at home with screaming kids because a vial of oil changed their life and now they are #blessed.

ETA: Ok now I look like I'm mocking a PP lol but I swear I wasn't. I was typing and dealing with my screaming kids so it took me a while to type what I was trying to say. I live in a small neighborhood and every.single.mom here (except me) sells the oils. It is all I see on my FB feed, all day. I just have no patience for it anymore.

Re: Just an observation

this thread has made me feel so normal.

i wrote a really long post and deleted it. without boring you with ALL the details... i am a person who does leave her home for work, and i'm going crazy.

the stress of all the additional things i have to worry about at work combined with my physical pain from my shoulder and a car accident (was rear-ended back in february), and then the stress of dealing with SO and how he is NOT handling this crisis well... it's all driving me mad.

i've been eating a lot and i've been boozing it a lot more than ever before in my life. i've gained weight, and then that makes me feel like shit because there are people who have less than me... and it goes round and round.

I'm not sitting at home watching movies all day. I still have to work. I wish I could get paid and not have to work for the next month, but that's not the case.

I too can't believe how many people on FB are still trying to sell things. Who is going to someone home to pick up a picture frame

I'm typing this now during my work day because our entire phone and internet system is down. We are all waiting for IT to fix

I really appreciate your post, OP.

My DH is an essential employee, and I have anxiety and OCD. I am a complete mess most of the day. I am so sick of people's toxic and aggressive positivity. This situation isn't a good one. People are dying and losing their livelihoods.

It's one thing to find positive parts of the day; it's another to have our heads in the sand.

Someone on my facebook feed who does not live in NY actually posted something along the lines of "I think that we will all come to think of this as a blessing." Yeah, um no, can't say I will ever think of coronavirus as a blessing.

I am so sorry you are going thru this. I am so appreciative of all essential employees who are going out there putting themselves at risk every day. Unfortunately, I don't think some people will understand the gravity of this until they lose someone close to them.

I've just started unfollowing all of the people I'm friends with that keep preaching like they are the mayor. It's getting old. Really old. Including my own mother. She was ranting about a 1 year old who has CV where she lives in another state, and when are people going to learn to stay home. How does she know that child's parent's aren't working and that child goes to childcare. Or the parents brought it home from working. I am so over the stupidity.

Just an observation

I am the first to admit that I HATE being home. Both of my kids (both special needs including autism, OCD and anxiety) are a handful to say the least. My husband working from home is a nightmare (and yes I am blessed he has no worries about loosing his job but it's still a nightmare). I like my alone time. I need my alone time and now I have absolutely none. I am mentally at my breaking point. Yes I know I sound selfish. Of course I am following all the rules and I appreciate all the essential employees risking their lives but I want this over!

Yes, I have seen posts about people calling this situation a blessing too, and I find these posts quite disturbing and unaware.

Honestly I'm sick of everyone and their "blessings."
Everything is a fuking blessing to them.

Live!
Laugh!
Love!
#blessed

A fuking pandemic is a blessing
A plague of locusts is a blessing
A nuclear war is a blessing

I really think I need to just do a 30 day quarantine of social media for my own sanity!

It is so hard!!!!

The school work, the work work, the unknown... it all comes crashing in.

Then the guilt for feeling stressed when we are all healthy. But I have really been stressing about getting it (DH is an essential worker)

DH is getting more nervous too which is making me more nervous.
