I think it’s going to backfire. The more people who make excuses, the more people are out, the longer the numbers continue to rise....that’s extra time businesses will be shut down and are more likely not to survive in the long run.

My DD's teachers all did a car parade a few weeks back to wave to their students.
I see tons of people doing drive by parades for the poor kids who's birthdays are falling during this horrendous ordeal. Having their friends drive by and honk and wave from a safe car.
I guess they were breaking the rules too.
Not essential. None of that is ESSENTIAL!!!

The problem is that some don't listen or watch any news to know what the stay at home thing really means. It does not mean you have to sit on your couch all day long and not do anything else.
I honestly wish more people would listen to some news daily as I have heard so many things that were not true and that keep getting passed along.

If someone wants to donate to a charity they should....and not need pictures to do it. And if the photographer is really doing it for charity then they aren’t making a living doing it.

Porch photosessions
I did Porch Sessions for free a couple of weeks back in my neighborhood. I was more like 10 feet away. I did it for free but suggested they donate food to a food pantry or PPE to the hospital on their own. I can't see charging because that was not the premise from the originator. The project is all over the country, but I stopped since people were slamming others for doing it. Plus the nice days are far and few between anyway!

Plenty of room to spread out and get some fresh air and vitamin sea. Or people like to drive to see the deer. Who cares??? It's not only safe but its good for mental health! Oh and my other favorite comment is "you shouldn't be driving because you can get in an accident and cause more chaos in an ER". Could you please stop. Just stop. I can get into an accident going to the grocery store too.

You're completely misunderstanding the point of the post. The point was that I see the same people flaming a photographer for trying to make a living taking porch pictures, but they went and booked a different photographer who is doing the same kind of pictures for free... all you have to do is make a donation to his cause. So the guy who is donating his time is being praised, but the guy who is trying to make a living is being shamed. Meanwhile I see no difference, the guy doesn't deserve to be shamed for trying to make a living. It's no different, there is the same amount of risk involved for both. A lot of people are self-righteous hypocrites, that's all.

I've always hated people but this has upped it exponentially.
Not everyone can stay home for 18 months and survive on no income. But it must be nice to be that privileged and look down upon the others who aren't and act like you alone are saving the world. I hope that makes them feel better about themselves

Porch photosessions
In my neighborhood, two of the public schools, and the catholic school, did teacher drive by parades. It was so sweet- until someone said it was irresponsible and dangerous to encourage people to leave the safety of their homes. To stand in their own driveway? Yes- this person said my children should only be allowed in the backyard. I give up.
I also heard the car accident scenario as a reason for not going on drives. I get my groceries delivered, I have not entered a store or gone to a drive thru in weeks. My kids have not seen anyone but us. So, if I want to take them for a bike ride around the neighborhood, or pile them into the car to go for a drive, where we never leave the car, I can't imagine why that would bother anybody.

IMO it's not. And not everyone has the luxury of staying home with no income so if they can do something safely I have no problem with it.
But we have also reached the point where people are aggressively shaming others for needing or wanting to take a drive past the beach on the weekend.
When you really look around, many people are turning out to be complete hypocrites.
I can't even deal with that. I live where the bridges to the beach are and I see moms posting "I can see from [my mansion] all the traffic! STAY HOME!" Why? The beaches are vast. Plenty of room to spread out and get some fresh air and vitamin sea. Or people like to drive to see the deer. Who cares??? It's not only safe but its good for mental health! Oh and my other favorite comment is "you shouldn't be driving because you can get in an accident and cause more chaos in an ER". Could you please stop. Just stop. I can get into an accident going to the grocery store too.
I don't see a problem with the photo sessions. I think people are doing anything they can to survive and when it's done safely, I have no problem with it.
I can't even stand it with the hypothetical things that can go wrong. People are nuts. All of the sudden fresh air is going to kill us all.
No riding bikes and no going for walks now. The virus travels dozens of feet, and the downstream of it will fly up the person behind you's nose. All day long I see this shiit. If that were REALLY true, more than .00084 of the New York State population would be infected. I'm getting so sick of the shaming of the people that are responsibly going outside. It's getting old, and these people look like assholes.
But what if someone is walking their dog, they sneeze the virus onto their dog's fur, the dog walks past your house, sheds some infected fur into the wind, that fur blows onto while you are safely on your porch and then you get infected?
It can happen right? Time to lock everyone inside!
