Traveling this summer?
Anyone thinking of traveling this summer? We are looking into some trips but unsure whether to book or not.
We have a trip booked already at the end of the summer for Myrtle Beach. I don’t have to go into the office until the kids head back to school so I have a lot of time off to use.

Re: Traveling this summer?
I'm heading to see my daughter and grandkids in Alaska. They were suppose to come here for the NYC Marathon in Nov but we're pretty sure that's going to be cancelled so I decided to go there.

Traveling this summer?
I have a solo trip booked to Aruba, so far I'm going. I would like to take my kids somewhere after having to cancel Puerto Rico twice. Maybe Costa Rica. We will see

I would be hesitant about travelling b/c of the second wave, but I would suggest getting everything that's refundable - just in case.

Re: Traveling this summer?
Yes. Our Cape May trip in August is on. The hotel is reopening on June 1st. I can't wait.
I want to find something for July too.
We have flight credits and got a refund from the resort in the Keys we were supposed to go to in April. They are also reopening June 1st But that I will wait on since Florida in the summer doesn't appeal to me.

Traveling this summer?
Thanks - I think we are going to book a second trip to Myrtle.
It's weird - it took so long to get to phase 1 for everyone it seems (except Georgia) and now it feels like things are moving along like gangbusters.

Except in NY of course. I don't even think Long Island has started phase 1

You start tomorrow. I'm in Mid-Hudson, we started today. But, it's pretty much the same as it was last week... Except I can get curbside pickup from Kohls now

Re: Traveling this summer?
We're going to Myrtle beach end of June/early July. Also , we are considering possibly going to Tampa in August. DH eventually wants to move down there so at some point we wanted to look around. But we will see. If not then maybe a second trip to Myrtle for us too.

Traveling this summer?
We booked Montauk back in February and our hotel just opened up last weekend with a lot of precautions in place. As of right now, we are still planning to go in July. We’ll see when it gets closer though.

I'm thinking of going to Montauk next week with my kids while the rates are reasonable. Relaxing on the beach sounds nice to me. And not having to worry about having to come home to use the bathroom like our town beach. We have been a couple times during all of this for the day and it's been so nice and quiet

the bathrooms aren't open at the town beaches? Even now after Memorial Day? I heard state beaches had bathrooms open this weekend.

Nope, not in the Town of Brookhaven during the week. Weekends only. And they close all parks and beaches at 6pm still

Traveling this summer?
yup... we are going to the Outer Banks in NC in august. we booked the rental house back in january, and plan to still go. we drive, so no planes/ airports to worry about. and the house will be just us, we can cook our own food at the house and social distance on the beach... so its the same as being at home, just with a pool, hot tub, and view of the ocean HAHA

Not even sure what we are doing. We had toyed with london / paris, cruising, but not sure anymore...maybe even the bahamas, jamaica, aruba, UVI if they open up. We are also watching for what Disney is doing.

Re: Traveling this summer?
Not planning on going anywhere this summer. Maybe if no second wave will consider something last minute for fall or winter, but realistically thinking nothing till next summer.
Edited to add that I would probably only consider traveling somewhere with hospital system that I would be ok ending up in

If we do, it will be locally, or just a few hours within driving distance. No planes.

Traveling this summer?
We had planned to go to Europe this summer but that's not happening. We booked a week at a house on the beach in Delaware. That is for early July - I am not comfortable getting on a plane at this point.
We always go to Woodloch with my family in August so we will do that depending on their status - they will be open in June so we'll see how that goes.

We’re supposed to go to Hershey Park in the beginning of September. I’ll see how that goes if they even open.

Re: Traveling this summer?
Our cruise from Rome in June was, obviously, cancelled. We are thinking about renting a house for one week at the end of June. We live in Manhattan in a small apartment and need a place with a pool or some outdoor space. After that, we'll see if we do something similar on August, depending on how things are going.

Re: Traveling this summer?
I had Aruba booked for August many months before this virus became what it did.
Now, we don't know what to do. The way our hotel was booked, we would lose lots of money on it. My husband wants to just go. He doesn't want the hassle of rescheduling, cancelling, losing any money on this, etc.
But I'm terrified to be honest. Public bathrooms with my daughter, having to be scared in restaurants, around other tourists, possible coronavirus checks in the airport, etc. People acting all crazy lately. I'm scared.
I have no idea what to do and we are torn

Re: Traveling this summer?
We just returned from a weekend in Vegas and had a great time. The hotel was good about social distancing in restaurants and the chairs at the pool. The tables also limited the number of players. There were hand sanitizer dispensors everywhere and the employees were constantly wiping everything down. We felt comfortable during our trip.

I'm curious were people wearing masks? I saw a video out of Vegas and there were tons of people walking through what appeared to be a lobby area no masks to be seen. I couldn't believe it.

Not Vegas but I stopped at Mohegan Sun over the weekend and everyone had masks on that I saw. Actually it was great. Sanitizing wipes everywhere as well as sanitizer. Too bad it took a pandemic for people to actually think about these things.
