We removed it when I had to keep pulling it up and moving it around so DD head would fit into it.
I would say we took it out at about 4 months old.

I'm no help because since Connor was so big we removed it around 3-4 weeks old. He just didn't fit!

I took it out when Julia was 2 months old, her head didn't fit in it anymore, and it would pop out of it.
