We went to PM Pediatrics last night...
And I love that place! I love them better than my regular doctor  I do!  But they can't be my regular place...only urgent care. darn!
The waiting area is very clean and they have a tv and aquarium. The second my butt hit the seat they called Lucas in  The room had a sponge bob theme which held Lucas' attention long enough for a nurse to come in and check his pulse and breathing with a cool machine (put something around his thumb and got the reading in seconds) and also took his temp with a great device (wand type device that she rubbed over his forehead and down to his neck).
Everyone was very friendly and we saw a nurse practitioner. I normally have problems with the nps at our office (based on experiences with them) but this person really impressed me. She looked at Lucas' ears (he had a lot of wax which the np at the normal practice mentioned but said to leave alone - this np wanted it removed so she could really see the ear so she got this cool light up stick with an opening at the end and cleaned it out  ) Sure enough my poor little man has an ear infection...but no fever, no diaper issues and no sore throat so he was cleared to return to daycare.
I had a hard time recalling the antibiotics he has already taken but I was sure that he took amoxicillan since I read it on the label...apparently the pharmecutical degree I got from the cracker jack box is really useless because I was wrong. It was amoxicillan/ something else and that makes it not amox (the nasty pharmacist made sure to point that out to me when I went in) but anyway the NP called the pharmacy to find out what Lucas had been on to help determine what to do for him. She was so thorough. She was concerned that he had just come off antibiotics last week but once she had all the pieces was comfortable putting him on amox (the real one) to clear this out of his system. Apparently the other things he was on were more of a mild antibiotic...which I understand...he's a little guy but this should really help.
Then....she gave him a dose in the office since it was late. This way I was able to fill the Rx and get him to bed..he got his first dose of that this morning. I have never had a doctor do that for him!
So I love this place!!! I highly recommend them if you need urgent care when your doc is not available.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes
We took his 10 month pics this morning and he was full of smiles - kind of breaks my heart that he was suffering. Daycare really did right by us...the teacher that adores him most saw him tug and she knew something was off with him.

I hate to hear that poor little man was suffering but thankfully you got him somewhere (wonderful it sounds!) and he is on the mend. I love that the NP really cleaned his ear. I wish more practices were concerned with that.
