So I e-mailed Chicco...(an FYI post)

My email...

"I would like to know if Chicco will be putting out a product similar in nature to Graco's snap-n-go frame. I am very interested in purchasing a Chicco Cortina travel system, but really like the features of the lightweight frame that would just hold the car seat while my baby is still small. It makes maneuvering much easier. Thanks in advance for your time and information."

Chicco's response:

"We will be putting a frame out within the next few years but at this time we have not gotten any specifics on any type of a time frame."

I think they can do better than that. It shouldnt take a rocket scientist of an engineer to copy Graco's design to fit Chicco seats.

Just thought I'd share.

You are right. It would not be so difficult for them to come out with a stroller like that. In fact, I am sure they can make it different enough not to violate any patents. We did the Graco carseat, Graco Snap N Go stroller, and our "real "stroller is not a Graco but it supposedly fits our carseat. We will probably never use it that way because we are using the Snap N Go. I believe that the Chicco Cortina (?????) looked nice to me but I ended up with something else.

I responded to them telling them they are losing out on a huge market - as if my opinion matters.

With my first my MIL bought us the Graco Travel System... I didnt use it lol the stroller was so big and heavy. I loved my Snap and Go so light weight and easy to use. You'd think Chicco would have one already.
I love Chicco. I only use their strollers light weight and easy to move around.

I was just going to say I'm almost positive you can use the Baby Trend Snap n Go frame with the Cortina seat. I see women in BRU with it all the time.

I have the Chicco travel system and if I only knew I would have bought the Baby Trend one for myself.

Try it out in one of the stores!!Chat Icon

I have the chicco and LOVE IT!!!! When I am with my DH he loves to use the whole system. But when it's just me I can go either way, I don't find the stroller heavy. But If I just want to walk around my complex I usually use the snap and go with the strap and it's secure and I have no problems with it.

Thanks! Did you also get the travel system and if so, was it the Key Fit 30 or the one that goes up to 23 pounds?

Next time I go back to the store, I am going to see for myself.

I have the Cortina travel system (the one that goes to 23lbs) and I used the baby trend snap and go. Love it!!! Also, I switched my DS to the bigger carseat at about 21 lbs because it was getting heavy to lift him in and out of the car and carry the seat. I couldn't imagine keeping him in the infant seat to 30 lbs!!

Re: So I e-mailed Chicco...(an FYI post)

I found the Chicco travel system too heavy for me - even though the Cortina was on my original list of things I wanted... I ended up changing to the Graco Metrolite. I'm small and don't have the best back so I didn't want one of those gigantic Graco strollers, nor did I want anything heavy. This way I figure even when we are done with the infant seat, I still have a lighter-weight stroller to carry around.

I am not using anytravel system anymore but I did just get the Cortina because something was up with my Peg Perego and I needed a new stroller. I love it so far. I don't think it is heavy at all (but I also lift a 40lb double stroller in and out of the truck so that may be whyChat Icon ).

Honestly, I wouldn't worry to much if they came out with a seperate frame especially if Baby Trend accepts the infant carrier. If your baby is on the bigger side, chances are the baby won't be in the carrier that long then.

I used my Pliko P3 as a travel system with the Primo Viaggo carrier and never had the snap-n-go and it was fine.

Re: So I e-mailed Chicco...(an FYI post)

OK I just came from Buy Buy Baby and spoke with a salesperson. According to her, the Chicco representative who sells to BBB, said that though people MAY put Chicco seats in other company's frames, Chicco does not sanction or approve such use.

In other words, if there is a universal car seat frame that says it accepts "all car seats", Chicco cannot and will not be held liable should something happen to their product or the child in the product.

They do not carry the Baby Trend model. They carry a Kolcraft model that says "universal" on it. Chicco won't recognize it for use its products nor would it sanction the use on the Baby Trend.

Bottom line, people who use the frames with Chicco systems are taking their chances and Chicco wont be held responsible/liable.

ETA: She also said that the Chicco rep said that the more people who request a frame from them, the more likely it will happen faster - just not in the very near future.

Even though I would have liked to use a Snap & Go (just looked really easy and light) I always used my Chicco travel system and never found it to be too heavy. I still use the stroller, never even bought an umbrella.
