How do I do assigned seating for my son's Christening -- its at a Restaurant
The reception will be at a restaurant and I think table set up will either be shaped as an "L" or as a "U" ---- How do I do the seating I really don't want to do open seating---it gets confusing
Any ideas ?
Thanks

Re: Need Help with seating for my son's Christening
if you have to do a L or U, i'd do "L". "U"s can be very tight if not done right.

With a U shape I would put my family (DH, me, kids) along the bottom of the U, my family on one side, DH's family on the other and friends after that farthest away from us.

Thanks, but how do I assign seats? This restaurant doesn't have table #'s.

Do seating cards and put them on the place setting.
Or you can do it by family and put family names on the tables next to your centerpieces, or as part of your centerpieces.
Or as people arrive, you can direct them like I mentioned above.
My DD's first birthday was at a restaurant in a U shape. I directed people and it worked out well, but I had less than 50 people. More than 50 and that would be crazy.

For DS1's 1st birthday, I did assigned seating. I did my own place cards. I did work with the restaurant though for how many seats per table and which table was where (so I could have friends tables together, my side together, etc)
