Remember when Long Island was the place to escape too. Well, it seems like more and more, at least parts of it, are becoming places to escape from. And, it’s not just because of the increasingly overcrowded (and in my opinion, often poorly up kept neighborhoods) but rather due to the influx of “gangsters”, and gang activity infiltrating suburbia.
But, the good news is that recent crackdowns on street-level drug dealing and gang activity out in the Eastern part of Suffolk, has yielded close to 80 arrests, six of these of individuals with past criminal histories.
And, officials note that the operation was a response to continued migration of gangs into the county. They further add that the arrests (out in Riverhead) included dozens for misdemeanor drug charges, a dozen accused of prostitution and six arrested for outstanding warrants.
