In the news recently it was reported that officials, in an attempt to combat obesity and health issues, were preparing to take a stand on our dining habits, at least when we eat out. In fact, new measures were calling for a ban on trans fats and while some eateries took issue, some others have found ways to comply. And, one of these is McDonald’s.
In fact, the fast food chain says that now you can have your fries and eat them too.
Its all part of recent efforts geared toward developing a healthier oil for French Fries cooked in the U. S., although there’s still no definitive date as to when these new and improved fries will be released.
The recent progress comes four years after the company committed to substantially reducing the trans fat levels in its famous fries.
While the company was supposed to spearhead this move back in 2002, plans changed amidst fear that they would compromise the taste of this staple menu item. But, now, with new legislation in the wings, they are making significant progress.
Other innovative fast food companies that have already cut back on trans fats include Wendy’s International Inc and Yum Brands Inc. KFC is expected to make the switch by April.
