Sticking to a fitness routine can no doubt be challenging. And, how many times have we noted that fitness fanatics, who smoke, seem like a contradiction in terms. But, now there seems to be more reason for smokers to hit the gym or ground running.
According to recent research smokers who took their health seriously and combined exercise with some form of quitting aid such as nicotine gum or transdermal patches were more likely to succeed in kicking the habit than those who relied on therapy alone.
Additionally, those who engaged in regular exercise were also more inclined to cut back on the amount of cigarettes they smoked, even if they didn’t manage to quit completely. And, they scored better on a variety of tests measuring respiratory health.
