Who couldn’t use a few extra dollars in their pocket at the end of the wee? And, now it looks like we may just be getting that opportunity as gas prices begin to inch their way down slowly. Still, the change is noticeable as most of us can look forward to another 10 slide at the pumps over the next few weeks.
According to authorities, the anticipated average gas price is estimated at around $2.50 per gallon, possibly less.
The average gas prices for the past several days averaged about $2.61 a gallon, a reduction of about 40 cents in a month.
All this as part of an almost 20 percent decline in crude oil prices since the beginning of August spurred by increasing U.S. stockpiles and an end to the spiking summer surge.
However, experts do warn that we should not be “fooled” into believing that we will be returning to a season of cheap gasoline, as high priced gas continues to be a problem
Energy prices continue to rise as they have been over the past few years based on rising energy demand, the war in the Middle Ease and the damage caused by hurricanes that took a toll on oil plat forms in the Gulf of Mexico.
And, they add that even with a peak of just over $3 a gallon last September, our gas prices remain significantly lower than prices in Europe and Canada where taxes are higher.
