Golf has always been known as a gentleman’s sport, one that was suppose to promote camaraderie and relaxation. But, it seems now life in the fast lane has caught up with this serene sport.
It’s all in an effort to speed up how much time golfers spend on the green and move them through the course faster. This, despite several pleas by those who enjoy the “slower” pace of the game, and who walk the course for their health.
But, officials are adamant about making carts mandatory, and thus increasing the revenue at the Eisenhower course by an estimated $100,000 to $150,000 on the red course alone. And, they add that those that want to walk are welcome to play along the White or Blue courses instead. And, they add that it will meet the demands of the continually increasing number of golfers who are eager to play this course.
Still, many are upset, especially since they first learned about the mandate via a sign posted at Eisenhower Park.
Not to mention that the new legislation makes golfing more costly as golfers will now have to pay $29 to rent a cart, rather than the standard $9 to walk the course. And, this has avid golfers enraged since they suggest that the new rules are all about the money. And, they add that it does little to support recent health incentives by encouraging golfers to ride instead of walk.
