While the scorching heat had many Long Islanders begging for reprieve, the rain, wind, and stormy weather following left an even greater impact and mark.
In fact for many residents the remnants of the storm remain. The booming thunder, lightning, and down-pouring rains took down some trees and even sent some crashing through people's roofs and homes and destroying much of their sanctuary and security.
Furthermore, commuters were burned with transit problems such as 20-45 minute delays on many of the Long Island RR lines. Some downed trees in certain areas also contributed to typing up main portals of the commuter train.
The said delays affected an approximate 30,000 commuters and left the Long Island Power Authority with more than 52,000 outages to deal with, and 12,000 customers without power.
