Just when you thought chivalry was dead (here on Long Island) not only is it alive, but thriving, and one 10-year old Levittown boy is leading the way.
When the youngster heard about a local girl who was seriously injured in a car crash, he wanted to do his part. So, with a heart of gold, he set up a local lemonade stand as a means for raising money for the young woman and her family.
Armed with nothing more than a pitcher of refreshment, some “high hopes” and the newspaper article that documented the accident, this young philanthropist set out to raise $100. Soon, however, he realized he’d reached his goal and upped his expectations to $200 and was happy to boast in excess of that, with his final tally at $236 which he sent to the girl and her family.
The family has no health coverage and this little boys efforts helped with only a fraction of the continually increasing costs, though the young lady and her family remain extremely grateful for his concern and efforts.
