It’s sad enough when we have to worry about exposing our children to bullying, abuse and crime simply by sending them to school. But, when this type of treatment comes from teachers and staff, it makes a bad situation even worse.
But, that was exactly the case for one Long Island student who was “victimized” by a teacher.
In fact, 24-year old Miriam Curjeiras of Kellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale, stole the students credit card just prior to the holiday season and went on a Roosevelt Field Mall shopping spree, running up a tab of over $450, which recently led to her recent arrest and suspension (from her teaching position).
But, what’s worse is that this is not the first time the high school has been at the center of controversy. Just last year, the school had to cancel the senior prom.
The former teacher is being brought up on charges of grand larceny, identity theft and criminal possession of stolen property.
